I've been laid up in bed with a nasty virus for the last few days, so has my other half. We're both up and about now but my OH is left with a really bad and wheezy chest. He gave up smoking around 2 years ago (went cold turkey). My chest is fine, I'm not wheezing at all or coughing like him.
I am now wondering if VG has helped me and stopped me from having a bad chest, you know the glycerine 'n all. I have vaped throughout the virus (when I was awake that is). Before I started vaping (obviously a smoker at the time) I always ended up coughing and spluttering with a real bad chest for weeks after a virus or a cold, but this time I am perfectly fine.
What do you guys reckon - would it be the VG helping to keep the chest infections at bay. I use 100% VG in my liquids (other than the flavouring concentrates).

I reckon its more likely that the stopping smoking is keeping the chest infections at bay!

Oh dear Phoenix . that doesn't sound good, but um what is COPD? Maybe my theory of VG helping does not stand then

COPD is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a very nasty chronic illness for which there is no cure, only symptomatic relief. My partners gran had it and ended up on home oxygen. It's a common disease of smokers

lalGet a second opinion for pete's sake. 6 years ago I was diagnosed COPD and then after a couple of years I had cause to mention to an asthma nurse and was told to get a second opinion... This I did and guess what .............never was COPD. turns out that during tests I had had a mild chest infection so x-rays, tests etc were inaccurate.

Sorry to hear about your misdiagnosis, doesn't affect what I said above though... Partners gran definitely had it, it was a copd exacerbation which eventually killed her. You can live a long life with it though, especially with pulmonary rehab

The VG may help, but even if your juice is heavily VG, it's probably the PG in your liquid (in nic base and flavourings) that's doing more to kill off any opportunistic bacteria. PG was used as a disinfectant in hospitals from the 1930s onwards.
Vaping some zero nic menthol might do the chest and lungs a lot of good, actually.
Although I am not, of course, a doctor, nor have I played one on TV.

They now have Specialised medical teams that do thorough testing for COPd, not a Dr's opinion but proper testing of lung capacity.
