I won't go into details on how bad my situation is but I have to get meters installed after I ran up a big debt as things have been and still are really bad and I was just wondering how much does it cost to charge batteries. I normally rotate about 6 18650's in a charging session and with being on the breadline I find myself worrying even more with the things I have always took for granted
Anyone have a idea on what the average cost of charging a battery?
probably a daft question.

ohhh really not sure.. I have recently set up one of those electricity meters you get free from eon. it's above my charger and the reading doesn't move any quicker when charger is switched on than before - unlike my kettle!
but I have no idea beyond that but I'm sure it wouldn't eat your eleccy alarmingly

A Nitecore charger uses 10W so 100 hours of charging would cost one unit of electricity which is somewhere between 12p and 25p depending on your tariff. As a comparison an energy efficient light bulb uses 20W, an electric Kettle uses 2000W and a power shower 10,000!

Thanks for the replies.
Interesting links, its reassuring to know that charging batteries don't eat up the electricity.
I will have to drink less tea or find a battery charger that makes tea.
still worrying about using meters. I can imagine going days without leccy just to eat raw food. Stay warm and starve or eat well and freeze to death.

During a pub conversation about diets, a local worthy piped up that he was on a Sardine and Bread diet. Asked if his doctor had put him on that, he replied, "No, it was the Electricity Board. They cut off my Meter when I didn't pay my Bill".

stamina I do know that Card Meters are much more expensive per kWh than a standard, quarterly, Tariff, but as far as recharging Batteries goes, it wont really take much at all. If you get stuck plug your charger in at the Library (til they catch you) I take my charger down the Pub on occasion, and my Phone Charger. I figure if I'm paying £3 an hour to be in there I might as well charge stuff up!

Wish you lived close by. We would love to make extra portions of our weekly dinners for you to put in your fridge or freezer. Costs next to nothing to add a little more to each meal. Must be so hard for you trying to get by on what little the benefits people give you.

stamina Like you I have to eke out my meagre income (I am on benefits )
Please be reassured by what other posters have already said. Charging our batteries costs very little, so small an amount that you can barely detect it with normal meters. I used to work in electronics/IT and have a degree in Electronic Engineering which sadly is rather going to waste now. Even with that background, I have not even bothered to work out the few pennies that charging costs as it is simply not worth getting worried about. A charger going full-blast (which is only during the first phase of charging with a good charger, anyway) will use about 5W or so. In contrast, just running your laptop uses about 40 to 60W and this is similar to turning on a few low-energy lamps (as mentioned in a post above).
Vaping brings me a great deal of comfort and pleasure as I am sure it does for you too. The cost of charging batteries is definitely way below that of buying the kit and the ingredients for mixing eliquid, so for economy I have focussed on these. I am still using the first really satisfactory kit that I bought, with iClear16s that last for ages and I have bought spare coils for them instead of shiny new stuff. They use a fair bit of juice, but I have bought some decent-sized bottles of base liquids so it works out very cheap per ml of mixed juice. I get my concentrates from LT eCigs because they are good quality and only £2 to £3 for 10ml. The electricity costs are insignificant - just enjoy your vaping!
All the best

Thanks again all. I should of replied before but my head wasn't up to it.
Jono thank you for your exceptionally long reply and for the information, I can only hope it gets better for you. I shop at Lte as they provide value at a bargain price, its a must when one is skint. My water bill money was spent with them lol but in reality its not so funny. Time to get priorities in order before everything goes.
Keepitgoin great tip Cheers after all it cost nothing going the library.
Karma Thanks for the link, I am looking into it.
Dolly I wish I could live in your shed. I know raffles wants to move in but I am willing to share. The food situation is not to bad as my brother brings stuff down when he visits so I am fortunate compare to others who find themselves with no help at all although last week I had bread for two days. Next time that happens I will bring me bowl down to yours but you will have to reheat it as the walk is a mighty long way. Thanks for you kindness . I'm sure things will improve one day.
Anyone else I missed thanks again for your kind words.
