Don't renew the contract. Phone them up and tell them how horrified you are that you are paying for TV that you don't get, as they've not supplied you with the equipment. They'll tell you its free, but you don't want it. - you want the £2.50/month deal, then decide if you want the anytime call boost for 5.50. They shouldn't renew your contract - they certainly didn't with me! Tell them if they don't do what you want, you'll leave

I sell these packages all day long ... The company i work for is ofcom accredited ... i deal with mostly virgin home movers who can't get services at there new property and set up new packages for them and also deal with virgin telesales, who again are transferred through to me because they want the services but not available due to virgin not in there area , if sky fibre is available take it !! best on the market .. no traffic management policy's and also the only company to offer 12 month contracts on fibre all other isp's are 18 months and also doing free installs at present ... talk-talk mmmm we sell there product good prices but customer service is err not so good .. good for freeview and if good BB speeds you can add boosts ... rem you can only record the freeview , you cant record the premium channels .. they also do a smaller package called essentials tv .. which is freeview , no record function and only 30 mins of pause , unlimited bb and eve and wkd calls all for £22.90 a month .. but why bother freeview is free right ... Rem virgin and sky have the best tv and bb ... and sky have some rather good deals on at present ... also rem bt charge a 49.00 connection fee for vision and youview and a 39.99 connection fee for infinity and 18 month contracts another reason to choose sky right 12 month contract ? !!

I have paid 'up front' for a years line rental with BB for £2.50 a month for 1 year unlimited BB ,this is with Plusnet, I have been with them for ages never had any problems. I pay £20 a month to sky for TV (no movies/sports) catch and demand included no extra cost. I am happy with this set up.

Yes I did look at plusnet too, they get very good reviews for speed, they do use traffic management but prioritise tv streaming over web browsing etc. The sky £35 a month works out about the same as using a nowtv box with film and entertainment pass for a year and I can drop out of the tv bit whenever I want, we don't need the sport. The only downside with sky is they don't do inclusive evening calls, just weekends, unless you take their anytime call boost for an extra fiver a month whereas it's standard with talktalk. If we use the landline at all it tends to be in the evenings so we'd lose out a bit there. Talk talk have given me instructions on updating the settings on my modem so we'll see how that goes. I've watched 6 films so far through the nowtv iPad app, had a few drops in speed yesterday evening which was annoying especially considering I'm less than 100 yards from the exchange

Bandwidth capping sucks.
I only sign up for truly unlimited packages since 2011.

I must admit I am leaning toward sky, especially after speaking to talktalk who informed me their essentials package is £7.50 with or without tv, as the tv is free, of course it is...as you've just said freeview is..well...free! All I want is decent bb to use the nowtv box, I don't want to subscribe to a digital tv contract for services I won't use. I shall see if TT,s instructions on the modem improve the quality and take it from there, thanks for the advice and comments, another plus for this forum, you can find someone knowledgable in so many fields, not just ecigs!

Talk talk without TV or calls is £2.50 a month. Then ALL calls are an extra £5.50. No need to pay for TV. Tell them to send a bright-spark engineer (at their cost, as you don't understand the instructions ) who will swap your modem for a new black one, and do diagnostics and set it up the best it can be.
We've both just swapped to ovivo mobile, waiting for a couple of months to see what its like, then if ok, will use a separate mobile as the outward house phone, thus not paying the any time call boost of £5.50. Resulting in a monthly broadband/phone bill of £2.50 (+ £10.50 prepaid line rental)! Do I want to spend £30+ to save on a little bit of buffering (which I've not seen yet on the now box)? Nope! Make sure you speak to the detentions department in Warrington.

I've always been on genuine unlimited. We got fibre here last month; to get that will mean switching to Plusnet. (It's going to happen....quite soon) I'm not sure if this is relevent, but some ISPs are bundling some obnoxious software to "protect" their customers. In reality, they were getting more information from the users than doing something useful. Big Brother at it's best.

"Internet traffic management..good or bad thing"
If you are a heavy downloader eg. torrents, seedboxes etc... then its bad If you are a light user then you wont see the difference
I am a very heavy user, so i went with Sky

Capping as they call it wont effect your movie streams ,they mainly cap torrent sites etc what have heavy download i have BT fibre but not for long, have had loads of billing problems latest is now there trying to charge reconnect/disconnect fee for there fault, all in hands of Ofcom now----24/7 phone 76 mb fibre £58pm amazingly they snuck rises in before law change in January so rose by £10pm Sky Phone and Fibre roughly the same £50pm...but want £50 connection charrge uhmmm dont think so! Plusnet same as above £32.50 for 9months then £39.50 no connection charge - switching at end of next month, maybe sooner as refusing to pay BT the extra £30+ if you cannot get fibre or want it best deal i would say would be sky for normal broad band phone remember this as of January 2014--- if your isp.phone,tv up the price and you dont agree you have 30days from being notified to cancel the existing contract WITHOUT penalties, even if you have 12 18 month left on it

Would you be happy buying e-juice that you could only vape at 5W between the hours of 5 - 12?
