Bad day

Hi folks

Been looking for places for my dog n cat to stay while I'm away. Visited a kennels today and it was so horrible! Has made me feel like I don't wanna go away now. I wouldn't pay £9.75 let alone £975.00 they wanted

That's a lot of money, Natz. Maybe you should consider shortening your trip to maybe 3 or 4 weeks, instead of 9 weeks ??

I'm coming for 9 weeks, my husband and kids only coming for the last 5 weeks. Unfortunately the tickets where a gift and they've already been bought or I'd change my mind. I'll have to keep looking.

No thanks, I gave up on pets a while ago. Too much heartache when they're ill etc.

maybe you know someone that could house sit for you and look after your furry friends that way.... we went to the states a few years back for 5 weeks and a student friend sat for us... shes quite sensible so i think the wild parties were kept to a minimum )

When i go to visit my daughter in U.S we have a friend that comes & stays looks after Milo & Smudge our 3 legged cat. Milo was a rescue dog so i vowed i would never put him in kennels incase he thought he had been abandoned again It's always worked for us having someone stay & they always have a nice warm meal awaiting us on our return

I'm wondering whether your local dog warden may be able to recommend kennels/cattery to you Nats . . . or do any of your local Rescue Centre's take in 'boarder's' to help their funding.

But, I'd have to agree with what the others have said . . . house sitter's/friend's are possibly a better way to go - especially for that length of time.

We have customer's in the shop, a retired couple, who basically house sit whilst pet owners are away . . . they've made quite a little business enterprise out of it.

Have you looked on the internet for anything similar in your area maybe?

Seen from your other thread Natz that you have found someone to look after your dog If I was closer, I'd have been more than happy to look after your cat. I look after all of my neighbours furry friends when they go away.

Thanks Chrissie, I wish you where closer, the amount they wanted to charge us would've been cheaper shipping them to you I think.
