I never smoked in the car when the kids were with me, plus I was pretty useless at coordinating a cig at the best of times. The ash invariably blew back at me as did the odd cigarette end causing much swearing and scrabbling in my lap. Much easier with a ecig once you've located the button...

Ahhhh, yes, and even worse, dropping the entire lit cigarette into your lap whilst driving and not knowing where it has gone! Happened to me several times and had to pull over in a panic to retrieve it before it either burnt my legs or set fire to the seat or carpet!

I once attempted to throw a butt out of a closed window at traffic light's one night.
The people behind me must have had a great chuckle at the shower of sparks and me thrashing about trying to put out small lapfires.

Also I always had burnt trousers when I smoked and drove.
Nearly every pair I had, had a small burn in one leg or another down by the ankle... weird.

Along the same lines, I drove in a 24 hour race once, tapped a LED clock in the passenger footwell to enable me to check how long i'd been driving for, within a couple of laps it managed to get free and of course jammed itself in the most obvious place, under the brake pedal, several panic sticken minutes thrashing about with my feet (we cannot move upper body in cars due to harness) i finally managed to flick it up into my lap, from there it quickly got thrown out of window. Thank god I was not smoking as well, would have been even more confusing lol.

God that sounds scary, I've had the odd plastic coke bottle roll through from the back (kids again!) and get lodged under the brake pedal, fortunately they're soft enough to crunch if you're desperate and the foot juggling doesn't work. Worst thing I've had when I smoked was an electric lighter igniting in my handbag causing a small inferno that I only noticed when driving, horrible smell of burning plastic and smoke wafting out of it, had to chuck the Starbucks I was drinking into it! Fortunately my purse and phone weren't in there so only lost makeup etc... And the Starbucks, what a waste...
