Is it possible to have one on Pro-Boards? Or should I be able to download a third-party app? If you know what I mean. I don't actually use a spell-checker but they do highlight typos, and it's a nuisance having words like "colour" and "travelled" underlined. Sorry if I've missed something obvious. scylla

There is a Proboard spell-checker Scylla, but I've never used it as I use the Firefox add on spell-checker.As far as I can see there is no way of changing the Proboards spell-checker

The Proboard spell-checker is probably in American English, which means that Scylla would still get the line under "colour", because we spell it "color".

I also know that your bad spelling is not accidental, and that Noah Webster done some of it deliberately scylla

Scyl, I was wondering why we spell some words differently. Maybe it's just to conserve ink. If I start using "ou" instead of "o", I will never hear the end of it from some of my American friends on the ECF. lol

This paragraph pretty much explains it. "In the early 18th century, English spelling was not standardised. Differences became noticeable after the publishing of influential dictionaries. Current British English spellings follow, for the most part, those of Samuel Johnson's A Dictionary of the English Language (1755), whereas many American English spellings follow Noah Webster's An American Dictionary of the English Language (1828)." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_English_spelling_differences
