Language is always evolving. If you don't believe me, try reading Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in the original text. It's in English, but darned if I know what it says. lol Some words are still spelled in the way that they were originally spoken. "Right" was pronounced "rikt", way back when. In the U.S., many times it's spelled "Rite" as it's now pronounced. Look at how the internet has changed some words, "photograph" is now "photo" and "picture" is now "pic". End of English history lesson 101. |
