Ha one started venting on you? I'd think the battery has had it, and I'd worry about your set-up. Mech mod?

Into a sink/wash-hand basin/bucket of water or out into the garden ASAP.

Lobbing it out of the window sounds good to me.
But it isn't likely to happen, except just possibly when charging, unless you have a mech mod or are using stacked batteries. If you have a mod, you should have a charging bag or some other way of making sure that if a battery does explode while charging it won't burn your house down.

A sand bucket is the way forward. Bury it in sand or earth if possible. Water might not help with a venting lithium battery and could make things worse. I like the "throw it far away" idea, but this wouldn't be a great idea if you're in a busy street, or driving or sometig like that. I guess the best advice is to make sure everything is well maintained and operated safely. I'm sure there are those more knowledgable than me on the subject, on this forum... but that's my best advice

Official battery safety advice. Keep calm at all times. Slowly and gently open the back door. Throw the fu***ng thing as far down the garden as you can. Slowly and gently close the back door. Open Lap-Top, order some more. Official advice from the virmin of the European Parliament. LOL
