Complaint to PCC upheld - sort of

Frankly, I wish I hadn't bothered.

"I am writing further to your recent correspondence with the PCC, regarding an article published by the Daily Mail (Mail Online) on 13 December 2013, with the headline “’E-cigarette smokers inhale more nicotine and toxins than regular smokers’: study finds users are unknowingly inhaling ‘a host of dangerous chemicals’”.

As you are aware, the PCC investigated this matter with a lead complainant, in accordance with our normal procedures for handling multiple complaints about the same article. That investigation has now concluded following the resolution of the complaint. A summary of the outcome has now been published on the PCC’s website. I got the same email but the idiot who responded forgot to bcc all the people who complained and as I phrased it to the person that responded

"Dear Sir

Please look below this email and please be aware you have just opened yourself and your office up to a serious breach of the data protection act."

One thing I do not appreciate is my email given out like that, if people want my email and I know them then I give it to them, but I hate it being given out in this manner.

I have in my inbox now about 12 emails from different people who I don't know regarding this. And every time they reply I get another bloody copy - what a farce.
So who do you complain to about the press complaints commission????

I got all those emails too - To be fair though, it's an easy mistake to make.
