Hi & welcome to the forum, mel. We've all been there, using cigs as a crutch for really bad times & I really feel for you, as the loss of your mum is a biggie. So no beating yourself up with having cigs, but upping your nic level to 24Mg should help you drop them down again.

Hi mel and welcome from me too. As you say it's early days but I'm sure you can do it. I used to almost have a panic attack at the thought of not smoking at all (having already cut right down) but mid December 2013 I resolved not to buy any more cigarettes and haven't had one since. E-cigarettes have moved on so much since I started dabbling with them in 2012 that I'm still trying to get my head round everything too, but I did upgrade in January and that has really helped. I'm 100% certain I couldn't have done this without the e-cig ! Take care and sorry to hear about your mum.

Welcome mel - well done on being brave - it's hard enough at the best of times let alone where you are now with what life is throwing at you. Really sorry about your Mum - know how that is - Big Hug. Don't put too much pressure on yourself about the cigs; on the other hand some part of you obviously wants to tackle them now - just be gentle on yourself! As many have said here - every one you don't smoke is a win Good move on shifting up to 24mg. I was advised to do that too and it really helped. I am a fellow newbie - only started about 6 weeks ago; struggled with 12mg but the jump to 24mg made everything much easier. What really, really, really helped was all the folks here - you couldn't ask for a more supportive, friendly and well-informed bunch. Talk about having backup - wowser! Wish you all the best on your journey - and good luck with your upcoming operation. Hang in there

Big tester this afternoon I go to work, just filling in shifts for sick and those on holiday till after my op. I work in a corner shop and of course we sell cigarettes. Think I will just keep looking at the awful price of them that should help lol

I was fine. I could smell them when they came in and saw how much they paid for the cigarettes, and thought that's just how I was. My boss even said it was ok to use my ecig in the kitchen/store room, I was going to nip outside like I used to when I smoked. Well happy

It's great not having to stand outside in the cold and rain. You're doing well
