Hi I've been vaping for a few weeks, I seem to manage going a few days without smoking then go and buy 10. Think it is just physiological as I don't enjoy them when I buy them and say right that's it. I'm enjoying vaping after smoking for 35 years and trying everything to quit. I lost my Mum 3 months ago and I am still grieving badly and the thought of stopping smoking at this time seemed impossible but I feel like I can do this, with the help of vaping. I've got an operation coming up so really need do this. I upped my nic level from 18 to 24 today and feel better for it. I joined the the forum a few days ago and have had a good read but think it is going to take me a little while to get my head around everything. Everyone is so welcoming and understanding I thought I would be brave and introduce myself

melI think it's a common mistake that people start of with too low a nicotine level to help them quit stinkies, I'm glad that upping the nicotine worked for you in your difficult time. My heartfelt sympathies on the loss of your Mum. x

Mel as munky munky says take it one day at a time. It's a good idea to up the nic levels and see how you get on I never intended to stop the stinkies but it happened on its own after a couple of days.

Thanks for the replies, I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself, one day at a time. I feel quite positive after reading all the posts from people who were long time smokers and they are now happy vaping.

mel my sympathies along with everyone elses. I started vaping 12 months ago and found that 24mg was a good starting point, don't worry about not keeping to a "programme" if you need a cig then have one, just realise that every cig you don't have is a step in the right direction. And also remember that under the new EU directive you won't be able to buy 10.

I've been at the vaping for a couple of months now but still smoke too, the thing is though I smoke a fraction of what I was before so it's still good. I'm not going to pressure myself or feel guilty and I don't think anyone else should either. Just go at your own pace.
I was over 40 a day before, I'm down about 10 - 15 at most now and feel better already.
Anyway welcome along Mel, you've come to the right place.

Wow mel, you've had a horrible time recently, my thoughts are with you and I know from experience how awful you must be feeling Please stop feeling bad over the few cigs you're still using. A 35 year habit is very difficult to break, I'd been smoking for 38 years and took a good long while to break the hold the stinkies had on me. You will get there, you've already noticed they aren't doing it for you and I found that feeling gets stronger the longer you can go without a cig. I eventually packed them in completely 9 months ago and now I can't believe I used to smoke around 30 of the things every day Good luck with your journey into the wonderful world of vaping, we're with you all the way

Thanks for the replies, I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself, one day at a time. I feel quite positive after reading all the posts from people who were long time smokers and they are now happy vaping. It surely is the case of a day at a time. Life can throw all sort of pressure at you, as sadly you have found out. The trick is to to take your time, enjoy the support you will find on here.
