I used to sleep 8.5 hours most nights. Rarely before 11pm or after Midnight. These days, I wake earlier and feel better. I have no idea why I'm doing better these days... (vape on!)

Good grief, sammy13, it's no surprise that you struggle to sleep I can't imagine paracetamol does the job! How on earth are you considered to be able to work? That's incredible

That's incredible Paracetamol helps, but just isn't strong enough. I have much more going on as well due to those conditions like in the last 8 months I have had a grade 3 tear hamstring, torn my shoulder muscle by picking up a shopping bag, and ruptured my glutomus maximus ( sp ), I also have raynauds, an an aneuryism and Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, that doesn't hurt though lol. I'm also just over cervical cancer. Capable of work - well certain hours that I choose per day or just once a week etc yes, would anyone employ me full time no - so I am now one of the lost ones, I get no money from nowhere.

Well, I think you should be put forward for a bionic overhaul on the NHS, sammy13! Hope you don't think I'm being trite, I'm truly stunned at what you're coping with, have another hug Oh and I just had to google ITP

Don't think you are been trite at all, I laugh about it all the time, I have to. I was always extremely active, a gym freak, a dancer, loved extreme sports and working 2 jobs 16 hours per day, I got told by the specialist, you did too much too young, doesn't help much. ??? I have done a lot though , just wish I could do it now as well lol. I can't even cook anything in the oven these days cos it's too low. Microwave food - way to go. ITP - its a good one - sounds horrendous doesn't it, I ended up with it after suffering a form of leukemia, don't ask me what that means, I was young at the time. I had to have a bone marrow transplant that is all I know, but since then I have ITP.

Normally I'd say I'm a night owl but recently I've become more of a dormouse! I'm constantly exhausted, not through any excessive physical exertion. I can sleep any time, I find it difficult to do anything for very long at the moment, no idea why as yet, had a load of blood tests done this morning, even my GP said I looked wiped out...very reassuring lol

Did gp do your thyroid function, that could be the cause, especially if you have recently quit smoking ( smoking affects thyroid function - I believe it highers it, so stopping lowers it, no problem if yours is generally normal, but if it is only normal or lowish whilst smoking it then becomes low when you stop - does that make sense ?). In other words due to smoking you didn't know your thyroid wasn't working correctly, but once you stop you find out. Diabetes is another one for sudden onset of those symptoms along with depression.

Yeah she did the works, full blood count, inflammation markers, rheumatoid factor, (she has a suspicion my osteoarthritis is rheumatoid but I disagree, as far as I'm aware rheumatoid hits peripheral joints like hands and feet first. Mines in my spine and not that bad). She did thyroid and kidney function and a random glucose. I'm probably just anaemic or it's all in my head. Hopefully easily sorted and I can get some energy back. I can't complain compared to what you have to put up with sammy13!

Mine have come on gradual over the years though, so each year another blow, god damn hard now, but worked hard as long as I could until last couple of years - at one point I was up early worked on a farm 6am til 8am, then next job 10am til 8pm, then next job was supposed to start at 8pm but they let me off a bit so 8.30pm til 3am that was in a club. Somewhere in between all that I had me time lol. I loved it, and when I wasn't doing that I was white water rafting, bungee jumping, abseiling you name it. I was warned to slow down but hey?

Must be frustrating when you've been so active. I get fed up with my back when it plays up so I can only imagine how you feel. I suppose at least you can say you've led a full life, shame you have to suffer for it now though..
