hi,
had a go at coiling but struggled , mainly with trying to use gas hob or lighter to heat the coil after taking off screwdriver. trying to make 1.8 ohm coils for cotton in a protank 2. so what options are best for getting a decent blow torch. taking into account gas costs (or what ever i would need to use)
dont want a cr*p cheap one but dont want to spend the earth on one.

I don't use a torch, just wind my coils and install, Even with micro coils I find it's good enough to just wind it as close as I can Then fit it. My small blowtorch fell apart months ago and I haven't bothered replacing it. With mesh or ss rope wicks I just pulse it, to oxidise just where the coil touches.

I'm a plumber so have one like this. Is this overkill for microcoils?

I just use this for my coils and all heat shrinking (need to put a attachment at the end though for HS): One tank full lasts ages, but it's quite pricey.

I've been making micro coils for a couple of months without a blow torch as markm said just wind it carefully and then pinch it between my fingernails, you can get them fairly close that way, having said that I just got one of the Dunelm Mill ones this week as enjay recommended and it pretty good, having said that I haven't noticed any difference in vape in my Russian or mini protank.

well my first go at coiling went badly wrong as i couldnt torch it with the cooker lol. not very well anyways. so thats' why thought i needed one as maybe trying to blame it on that. couldnt seem to get it tight and well long story but came out at 0.6 ohm (was attempting a 1.8 ohn coil.) will have another go soon see if i do any better.

clivealive1 I go for 1.8 ohms and use 9 wraps of .25 kanthal around a 2mm screwdriver, transfer it to a blunt green syringe needle pinch the loose ends between finger and thumb with my left hand and use the forefinger nail on my right hand to pinch the wraps together - 1.8 ohms every time mostly thanks to Super-Shiny tutorial. Patience is key lol

yeah i used shineys tutorial which is brilliant , its just me think it didnt help i was worried about over lapping it and maybe didnt get as tight as i should have. i used 2mm screwdriver and 14 gage needle, taking head apart etc was easy. as i say will give it another go. shame knowone is local lol
