Hi, I have been doing my coils for a past month but it never works out too well and I have to change or make new coils. Using a guide on micro coils from this forum: allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/32391/microcoil-cotton-guideI have the right organic cotton balls, I am using 0.25 kenthal wire but I also have 0.2. 10 wraps like the guide says, squeezed and torched according to the guide. However it lacks the throat hit and amount of vapor Bough some 2mm silica wick along with the wire just to play around with it and following a few guides on youtube I do 5-6 wraps using either wire but although I get more vapor it has a burning taste. Its getting a bit annoying to sit and keep replacing coils. I am even vaping less because I either can not stand the burning taste or there is lack of flavor

milomonkey as Roscopecotrain says, the amount of cotton in a microcoil should not be too tight and not too loose - it should feed in smoothly with just a touch of resistance. The burnt taste from your silica coils would indicate that the coil is wrapped too tightly and strangling the wick - try wrapping with a straightened out paper clip along side the silica which when removed will give enough room for the silica to swell when wet with eliquid.

Forgot to say, reason i asked what atty/clearomizer are you trying to coil is because are you getting a burnt taste from the cotton or a rubber burnt taste.

Yeah I been using the paper clip... and I am vaping from Mini protank 2 Are you getting a rubber burnt taste? if so it could be the bottom wires slightly burning the rubber grommet, it goes away after awhile:

Because the grommets are made of rubber. Newer ones have silicone grommets...just buy a new pack of coil heads and try again Rubber burns...silicone doesn't...at least, not to about 200 degrees celsius

You can buy silicone replacements for your old coils here linkIt takes a little while to arrive tho' I got them and they are better than the original silicone ones in the new coil heads

Then your coils are too tightly wrapped around your cotton wick...just make a smaller wick
