Seemingly overnight, none of my 510 atties will attach to the 510 connector of my Vamo 2.
I know knackered threadage is a notorious Vamo fault, but is there anything that can be done save swear savagely and order a Vamo 5 from FT (just done that).
The ego threading is fine, so I suppose I can keep it as a steroidal Evod-bearing ego.
Bah.

I've had a look at those and they look just the job. It appears though, that some dexterity is required to wrench the old top off and apply the new one. I am disastrously cack-handed, and can envisage such an event ending in tears, if not grievous injury. So the likely scenario is £6.99 + postage + faffing around with tools I don't have = completely destroyed Vamo + arm in a sling. If I was a proper Bloke, I'd give it a go, but my credentials are sub-standard it appears.
I was hoping for something simpler, perhaps involving a paperclip and Vaseline.

I used a long screw point to get under it. lost my tiny screwdriver. just be careful and don't be ham fisted. little teasing nudges should do it. comes up about 2 mm but don't force it.

Have nudged it teasingly but it has not responded to my tender ministrations. And also it looks a bit skewiff and nibbled around the edges now.
I may have to accept it's buggered.

well if its knackered .... are you trying to get under the pin? it needs lifting. my o ring looks a bit shabby but I used that as leverage. as in it gives way a bit to get something small and thin under the vamo pin. use a pin/needle/paperclip/screw you can do it. you'll see what I mean when you get under it GENTLY

Your o ring looks a bit shabby? What kind of talk is that? Where's the o ring?
Using an awl, I've managed to waggle the centre pin about a bit more, but the only difference seems to be I now have a waggly centre pin.

Got the post almost to the top of the connector. Too far. Pushed it back in small increments. Still not working. No o ring sighted. Threads, I think, beyond hope.
A time comes in every Vamo owner's life where they have to sadly acknowledge the fact that it is fubar. It's had a good life (10 months). Time to intern it in the Drawer of Useless Things.

OliverB you need to wiggle right around the rimmage gently so the central protruberance rises gradually all the way round Then check the centre post of the 510 atty is proud of the body as well, before you put them back together, if it was a bad connection that should do it. Check before as well that your Vamo hasn't been accidentally revved up to near 15w or 6v, if you're on low ohms coils it might refuse to fire
