seems i found some good batts here and seems they are not a complete loss.. does anyone know the max amperage that these have ? are they good for mech mods ? or better suited to vv/vw mods , are they protected or unprotected... also there all snub nose aswell...

The charging circuit inside the laptop battery normally has protection in it. All the batteries I've removed are unprotected. I don't know the amperage on them batteries, but all the ones I've tried are good batteries.

I think red/pink and the UR prefix will mean they are Sanyo. Probably from before they were taken over by Panasonic.
Laptops are often real battery killers over just a few years so you've done well to get good ones.
If I remember, the protected ones used to be a little longer. I'd have to check up on that, it's a few years since I played with such things.

There were 8 in mine - a Samsung I think it was - LGR18650OU, which I believe are 1350 mah. Still seem to have most of that left after about 6 years in the laptop, maybe because it wasn't used much.

The board or a couple of bad cells can make it sedm a dead battery. I've had great cells out of dead batteries, but if you can find unused ones(check the stationary cupboard) they're full of good cells. Rule of thumb- the better the laptop the better the battery.
