markm, don't argue with me, I don't know how to answer that. Its not a one way flow though. Well it might be in some tanks with long wicks, but when it is a short distance to the coil from the tank there will be flow going on. Try vaping vanilla in a BCC or top coil, the colour gets darker and darker as you use the contents of the tank. That only happens because the gunk left around coil is mixing with contents of the tank. It gets dark due to oxidization. Vanillas can be the worst for this. I have some Custard steeping and it's gone from golden to deep dark colour and it's just sitting in a bottle with no lid. No heat at all. Even bottom coilers won't get warm enough for it to be damaged and I would say that if a juice was subjected to constant heat the PG/VG would be the part that would evaporise not the flavour. Therefore, if anything the heat would increase the flavour as it becomes concentrated. My suggestion for an experiment would be to have 2 tanks with 2 very different flavours. Perhaps a custard and a citrus. Vape one till you loose flavour, then move to the other till that does. Swap back and see if the first tank still is flavourless. If it's not we know it's not the juice.

piddy, Ok, so it oxidises around the wick, how does that oxidation get back into the tank. Same way diluted flavour gets back into the tank from the coil.

You folk seem to know what you are talking about, and I haven't a clue about any of that in depth stuff at all. I do know though, with every single flavour I have tried since starting to vape I have had the same experience, as I described before. I wish there was an answer. Different tanks and batteries haven't changed what I am experiencing. If every puff was as good as the sample I get in the shops, vaping would be heavenly. How come the shops can do that? I wanna do that too, . Yes, I have been back to the shops and asked if I was doing something wrong and how come the flavour disappears. I have had so many different explanations, tried most of them, without a result. Everything from priming? (that was a good one), made no difference at all and I couldn't see how it could anyway, to different ways of taking a puff, I ask you.............!!!!! This morning, I left off vaping for 4 hours then went back to my blueberry. Nah, as I expected, I could smell it faintly, but no taste, just the throat hit and that was it. Yes, I understand about the first taste of anything being the best, before you actually get right into whatever food and drink you are eating/drinking, but the taste is just the same at the end and beginning. Is this the King with no Clothes experience I wonder..............

I've not been into a shop yet to try but have heard that their flavours are intense but I think they use drippers and the juice would be well steeped. Could it just be that you are a dripper type user I think there are a few on here.

Hi Piddy, I do that anyway. Have 2 flavours on the go at any one time. Same thing, flavour disappating after few puffs. I cannot understand why no one else experiences this.

Oh gosh I'm not very good at explaining this but basically put a few drops of juice on coil then vape. You have to have a dropper bottle though and keep topping up. Most mixers use a dripper to test new flavours so hopefully someone will be alone soon that can tell you more.

Crikey, that must be a bit of a fiddle and not very convenient when in company or travelling. There's obviously a need for it, or it wouldn't exist. Fascinating.............

crazyquilter... I really believe it's just your taste buds ... Everyone's behave differently ... I'm going through a phase right now where I can barely taste anything ... I'm adding more and more concentrates to my home mixes and they still hardly taste at all ... Juices like Red Astaire, which is my all day vape, that have a strong distinctive taste , now taste completely bland ... It's bloody annoying. This is not uncommon ... The general consensus is that you need to just change to some different flavours and that when you eventually go back to your current faves they'll be tasty again .... But if,like me, you are one of those unfortunate people I would expect that we'll be forever chasing that one flavour that satisfies ... And never quite finding it .... I reckon a 35 a day B&H habit has done irreparable damage to my taste buds .... But I have some new ones coming today ... So who knows !!

And apart from dripping ( have one on way from china) I've tried all sorts of builds in all sorts of atties ... Sub ohming... Dual coils... Twisted coils ... Vw mods ... Mechs ...cotton wool ... Ekowool ... Blah blah blah .... You name it I've probably had a go at it in the last few weeks .... What I need is a new tongue..( do FT do clone tongues ? )

Well maybe you are right about the taste bud thing, but I think you are being completely and totally honest. Remember what I was saying about the King with no clothes! I hope it is the taste bud thing, but I really doubt it, since I can taste everything else with no problem, even very subtle flavours such as vanilla in ice cream and cake icing, so I don't think I have a taste bud problem and it possible you don't either.l I suspect but have no evidence that it is the flavouring in the vaping liquid. I wish I could prove it, but obviously cannot. I have no idea why this happens, but the problem exists. More people need to come forward with the same problem and maybe we can pin it down in some way. I haven't found one liquid, except the ice mints and menthols which can hold it's taste to the end of the tanks. I have hope though, that someone somewhere will solve this. BTW Spikus, did you ever taste your liquids from first to last puff on your magic sticks? Or is this just a recent problem? Would love to know. Thanks for your input.

I don't think it's a personal taste bud thing with the problem you're describing Spikus, if they become bland over a period of time. That's happens to me to, a liquid becomes bland over a month of use or so. I believe it's just a desensitisation to a repeated stimuli over a period of time, it happens in all kinds of ways normally. Like if you live by a noisy street that's noisy all the time after a couple of months you wont really notice it that much same with smells or other things. Your brain starts to tune them out after a while.
Still not sure about the one tank thing, I don't really have that problem. Though it could be based on the same phenomena again.

Wish I knew the answer @paulo... I certainly don't have the issue of it going dull within the space of one tank like crazyquilter is experiencing ... I do think its a desensitiving issue though .. Whether it's the taste buds / brain receptors etc ... And I also believe it effects some people more than others ... Perhaps crazyquilter is at the extreme end of the spectrum ... i dunno if using my usual 24mg Nic is contributing to the problem .. ... Still .. In my never ending quest I have just loaded my atties up with 3 new juices mrs Lords custard cream ( lots of flavour but a bit sickly ) mrs Lords Kendal mint cake ( again .. Lots of flavour ) and some home mix blueberry ... At 20% conc. I'll see how long these last

The consensus seems to suggest it is me, but I am not convinced. Still no one ever thinks it could be them do they? Especially me who is always right even when I'm wrong I will try Mrs. Lord's juices now and see if they last longer flavour wise. Just watched a video review on one of their flavours. The person in the video was obviously getting what I want from juices, so this has to be my final test. I will moan on no more, and bear in mind that even if I am vaping bland juice, it's got to be better than smoking rollies!

crazyquilterOK, smell & taste are virtually the same sense, if you don't believe me try tasting stuff while pinching your nose or remember when you have a cold and food is pretty tasteless? So, your a Lady and you wear perfume, after putting it on you smell it at first but then you don't notice it, you change your clothes and when you go back and pick up what you were wearing you can smell the perfume on the clothes? It's because of the way your senses work, after a while you simply become de-sensitised to it. So you vape a flavour and after a while the taste disappears. The solution is to keep swapping flavours, I have 3 atomisers on the go here, one with Red Astaire, one with Pear Drops and one with fire and ice. I find this helps but does not solve the problem completely.
