Help - it just will not budge

Received my Kanger aerotank this morning. The air flow controller ring is right at the top, tried turning it anti-clockwise but it just will not budge

Any tips or tricks to get it to turn ???

Am soaking it in some warm water at the moment, but don't think that's going to be any help - or is it?

This isn't the most scientific method, but: A thick elastic band around the ring to give you extra purchase, have dry hands, and give it a heave. Vaseline on the thread may help once you get it going.

I don't have an aerotank, but water doesn't usually help with such things, WD-40 usually does. If you don't have any, a (male) neighbour probably does. You'll want to clean it well afterwards.

edit - nah! forget this - just watched a video and tread is as expected. Ah well.

Thanks, my OH has got some WD40 in his car. Says he'll bring it home when he's finished work.

I've spent almost 2 hours trying to get this thing to turn. Tried pliers, household de-greaser spray, rubbing washing up liquid on it, damn nuisance  
I wanted to play with my new toy, not get infuriated with it

Why don't they send these things out with the ring half way down so you can turn it easily, not put it so it's screwed tight right up the top making it impossible (especially for women) to turn

It says counter-clockwise to increase the airflow. I'm trying to get the holes to show up, at the moment I can't see the holes, so it's gotta be closed up surely?????

toots - mine is left handed too - it works the other way round - so yes turn it clockwise

Updated my post - you are right, but then depends which end you are looking at. Clockwise from top anticlockwise veiwing from bottom.

Pop it in the freezer for a hour or two, works for me !

Clockwise or counter-clockwise - this depends on which way you are holding it!

510 connector towards you Clockwise closes it, counter clockwise opens it.

To undo put a pair of rubber gloves on, put the kettle on! let the water get hot (not boiling) pour hot water over the ring only as best you can, you will not need loads and then try and undo immediately.
