I smoked for 30 years. Neither of my parents or my three siblings have ever smoked. I started at Catering College as I was smoking something else as well. Smoked Gauloises and Gitanes for about 5 years but they were seriously doing me in. Smoked 50g a week, so about 20-30 GV rollies (Barlinnie skinnies) a day for the last 25 years, although I always used to smoke more on National No Smoking Day Tease-smiley Bought a disposable ecig on the way to a free night stay at a Hilton hotel as I didn't fancy traipsing all the way outside for a fag all the time. Pretty awful but it did the job and just about lasted till the morning. Didn't think of it again, but for no particular reason a few months later I did a bit of research online and ended up with an MVP2, with the thought of perhaps slowly cutting down. Haven't had a rollie since the postman dropped it off, 50 days ago! Wow, that's gone quick!

I gave up in Nov '13 and I didn't realise how unhealthy I was! After about a week it felt like some lead weight had been lifted from me. It's not a feeling you can really "sell" to people, especially not the young I don't want to get too political, I save that for UK Vapers, but the outcry against e-cigs is purely about money and has absolutely nothing to do with public health or "will someone think of the children!?" I've tried tempting my grown up daughters with e-cigs but they're not really impressed by them, they're too young to feel any dramatic health benefit and don't smoke enough to see a cost saving. One thing's for sure: ban e-cigs and all the kids will want one

I smoked from 1990 - 2000 (20 a day), gave up using Zyban then started again in 2009. Took possession of my vaping kit on 28 February 2014 and haven't touched a cigarette since. Have been vaping 0mg nicotine juice for a couple of weeks now.
I am astounded how well the transition has gone and I'm thrilled at my new stinky-free life.

I started smoking at 13 (30 years ago) and by 18 was a 20+ a day hardened smoker. I gave up for 3 months in 2009 with NRT as I had an operation, but was soon back on them again when I stopped the patches. Started vaping with Skycigs in 2012 and managed to cut down to about 5 a day at first, but that gradually started creeping back up until in November 2013 I was back up to about 15 a day. Bought my first ego & CE4 kit on an overpriced groupon deal and haven't looked back since. I lit a cigarette last week, took too drags and threw it away in disgust, it was revolting!

I've vaped for close to 2yrs now and felt the benefits within weeks. No coughing in the morning! No wheezing when I lay down in bed! Can take a deep breath without making a noise! I tried the odd stinkie last year - yuk! I've never yet met anybody who vapes but has never smoked. I see people having a stinkie before they get in their car (at the supermarket) as they don't want their car to smell of smoke - but it still will. I just smile, get in the car and vape.

I was a smoker for 28 yrs, started at 14 at the youth club disco! Ended up. In 15-20 a day. Did give up for 4 yrs once but failed. Tried patches no joy. Went on to a ego c 2 years ago, and apart from buying a pack of 10 in the first week because I ran out of juice haven't had a cig since and passed 2 years in Feb this year. Over the 2 years I have dropped my nic from 18 to 6-8mg now and will look to drop further. But I think I will always vape as I ways enjoyed the action of smoking and vaping satisfies this.

I tried everything with limited or no success until I started vaping. I never looked back, nearly 15 months now and not one stinky!

I was a 35 year 20 a day smoker. Started vaping in May last year to see what the fuss was about and stopped within a week! Had a fag about a month later and only had a couple of drags before thinking this is disgusting (the taste and the smell) and stubbing it out. Not looked back since

and most of the comments would suggest that the Minister for Health is an idiot and that it has nothing to do with what a product looks like it is mainly peer pressure and/or the parents that makes people do what they do.

It is really heartening to read of people who have been smoking from 5 to 50 years, the majority giving up virtually overnight. I think I've mentioned this before. I had been smoking since I was between 8 - 10 years old. I'm now 65. After trying an Ego I gave up smoking overnight. I find this site and the people who post here a great motivator to keep on vaping. Thank you all

Smoked for about 20 years ish then just thought I don't want my kids to smoke so stopped with help with the e-cig. I just wish the bad press would just stop! Is it me or the government wants us to carry on smoking

44 almost 45 and smoked since 16. Never thought I would give up as I enjoyed smoking. Started vaping for real after trying cigalikes on 6th January this year and stopped overnight. Vaping gives me the action of smoking but without the nasty stuff. I think that whatever Govt we have will never want a no smoking population as the Country would go bust.
