Upcoming battery technology

I saw this and immediately thought how wonderful it will be for the e-cig market - instant charging and no lithium:

Perhaps battery tech is the next big step forward.

Nothing like a bit of honest cynicism on a Friday morning

Even if their claims are widely optimistic, battery tech is certainly an area that would benefit further development. When we think of innovation we think of better tanks, but shrinking and sanitising batteries would make a massive difference to the industry.

Looking forward to that.....at least it would balance out the VTR in the other hand

Someone in the comments has calculated that:

OK 2000mAh total battery charge for a typical Cell phone battery for 30s means the charger have to deliver ~250A of current for 30s.

I regularly work with 100A 3-phase power supplies if anybody wants to give it a try?
