That sounds like a short, probably in the switch. thanks again - so faulty switch then? - fortunately I did not spend much money on it Do not give up Clivia , I've been using my one since it arrived non stop without any issues ... There is very little that can go wrong on these ... Worth persevering with ... Start at the top and work down .. Separate all the parts ... Make sure the switch assembly is firmly screwed together and that you have a fully charged battery with clean / un-damaged contacts .. Make sure you have an attie that works .. If it has an adjustable centre pin try and get it so it just protrudes a little bit from the base. Screw attie on to top cap and then screw the adjustable top cap centre pin in firmly so it makes good contact with attie centre pin.( this is where most of the teething issues are ) Screw chosen battery tube on ... Insert battery... Screw on switch assembly ... it should then work ... Honestly .. The original design was that good it would take a genius to build in a fault that wasn't obvious ... I'm sure you will get it working .... 95% of the time it's all about the attie / centre pin contact good luck

thanks @yinyang - will try that - I checked on the contacts and had them in all length - no result - apart from heating up the battery - don't really want to waste you nice ones on this new clone - it should work as delivered - but might give it a go later Just to be clear, you've taken the top cap off and fitted the atty? In this pic, you unscrew that centre screw, fit the atty flush then tighten that screw up. Then you fit the top cap and atty to the nemesis, stick a battery in then screw in the switch nice and tightish. If you press the switch while it's out too it also has the same type of screw as the top cap, make sure it's tight as well. If you've done all that and the battery isn't rattling and it's still not firing then there is definitely something wrong some where.

I got a new stingray clone does the same thing, refuses to fire under any circumstances, some say it's battery fussy, ie that you need to cut off bits of the plastic wrap on certain batteries, others blame the switch, sorry I can't help you, still looking for a solution myself.

Apparently with some of the FT stingrays the contact on the switch is to large so it hits the insulation around the edges rather than the metal centre of the battery like it should. Take the switch out and check it against a battery negative and see. You might be able to file it smaller a bit to save messing with batteries. Option 2 is apparently the nemesis FT clone switch fits and works, not sure if a nemmy switch pin fits the stingray switch though, that would be the better solution imo.

I took my nemesis switch apart and sanded down the black piece, now the throw is shorter and the switch is loads better.
I noticed the new one had fairly long travel compared to my hcigar one.

I finally got the stingray firing, took the switch apart and it was pretty bad in there, magnets were covered in gunk, cleaned everything, re-assembled and it fired up. Sony vtc4 flat tops & Efest IMR button top batteries, both types working ok in the stingray.

Daren't even open the kayfun !!! jayseyBad news for the "ding" but at least it should not affect it. DO NOT LOSE THAT 3mm rod, you need it for the switch. The Whole thing is a bit Like a Airfix Kit and you can assemble it in many different ways. Start by assembling the switch with the 2 springs and the 3mm rod that sits like this : Start from the top, attach your atty leaving a TINY gap between the top and the atty. Then screw in the centre pin until you can feel it touch the bottom of the atty, do not overtighten.Next if you have a kick is the kick ring, the bit with the blue control at the top, leave this our if you do not have a kick. The kick will slide inside the ring and find it's own level. Battery sections next; here it is in 18650 mode (both tubes) Here it is is 18350 mode So, here it is fully assembled: From the Top :- Top cap, Kick tube, 18650 extender tube, (gold ring between) 18350 tube, the gold ring below the etched number and logo is the lock ring (spin down to lock the switch), switch at the bottom. When assembled there should be no rattle. As you adjust one thing it affects something else, if you have any gaps screw the switch pin in, if it's not firing unscrew the switch pin a bit. You may have to unscrew the atty slightly to take up slack and remove gaps. Hope this helps.
