How to make juice like shop brought stuff?

As the title says how do you do it?
I have been making my own juice for a while now and just buy ready mixed unflavoured from LT at 50/50 vg/pg. Then I pour some in 10ml bottles and add flavour at around 10%. The juice I make is ok but doesn't seem to taste much when I vape it. Someone sent me some Apple Pie and custard and its really thick and full of flavour but mine is nowhere near that quality. Why is that juice so thick? Do chocolate type flavours make the juice thicker? I have only really stuck with fruit flavours.

VG makes juice thicker. Try buying VG base then the only PG (which is thinner) will be in your concentrates.

Depending on the type of concentrates you have you probably need to mix them stronger than 10%

Thats what I used to do until LT made it 50/50 mix. Its not really the thickness im too concerned about but more getting a good flavour. I have brought flavours from flavourart before but the last one I got from LT which are Inawera brand. What percentage do you suggest? More like 20%? I know its probably impossible to tell but what percentage do you think hanseng use in there juices?

With any new flavour concentrate try making several small 5ml samples at say 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25% to see which you prefer ... the weaker samples can always be boosted by adding additional flavour and the stronger ones diluted with additional base so none will go to waste.

I mix mine on 20% - works fine for what I have mixed so far - but as yinyang wrote - just experiment with various percentages

paulmlpss sadly only u can get the percentages right for u and it takes time and changes per juices/makes.
most tend to go 20% as a starting point and then go up or down from there.
also how are u steeping ur juice and for how long.
are u letting them breath for 24 hours at any point as this can help.
on top of this worth sqeezing the air out the bottles every few days.

also might be worth trying a few at 70/30 see if that improves things

10% is where you're falling down paulmlpss . . . for most single/standalone flavours it's not a high enough ratio.


15% is more like the overall concentration Vendors use, I like mine at 20 - 25% though . . . and give them a good time to steep. With single fruity flavours, that's generally about a week.

Try experimenting with additives. Ethyl maltol, stevia, malic acid etc.

I'm yet to try these but it's on my list of things to experiment with. I have started adding a bit of TPA brown sugar extra to some of my mixes as finding a lot of the concentrates aren't very sweet in their raw form and I like a little bit of sweetness personally.

Try TPA's or Flavor Wests sweetener sonicflowjoe . . . it's Sucralose based and for me the nicest sweetener there is.


I find 1% is enough for my sweet tooth.

Thanks for all your replies. I think like alot of you say the problem is im not putting enough flavour in. I do leave to steep as got probably 10 different flavours and can't vape them all at once lol. I did used to leave the tops off them all the time and keep shaking them daily. Also I have brought some VG so I can add some to each mix so its not so harsh throat hit.

I tried adding more flavour a while back and it made it harsh to smoke but I think if I leave it to steep longer the harshness will go.

You can always add some Vape Wizard, if you find the extra VG with the extra flavour still isn't soft enough for you paulmlpss . . . it will help round off the flavour and knock back any harsh edges off it.

As Perpetua has recommended, I add 2% Vape Wizard to very mix I make to smooth out any harshness.

bit sceptical at all these add ons like vape wizard , sour, smooth etc.

I have indeed, which it why I always use it ...  but like everything vaping related, what suits one person may not suit the next. As you are aware, the whole mixing business is a matter of experimentation to find what you like. I have found that VW smooths out any harshness and helps to blend the individual flavours in multi-flavour mixes.
