Had a nice reply from my Lib Dem AM on the subject of banning ecigs in Wales - very quick, as well: Thanks for this. I raised this issue with the Health Minister the week before last and it was also discussed at the Welsh Liberal Democrats Conference at the beginning of April. My position and that of the party is that it is not appropriate to legislate to change people's behaviour. The smoking ban came about because of significant evidence of the damaging effect on other people's health from second hand smoke. There is no evidence of a similar impact from e-cigarettes and unless such evidence emerges the Welsh Liberal Democrats AMs will be voting against this ban. I hope that helps Peter Peter Black AM Welsh Liberal Democrats Spokesperson on Local Government, Heritage, Housing and Finance.
