Hi all,
just after some more advice as you know am still new to this game, still off the tabs though. Right here we go. I bought 3 or 4 flavours, 100ml of pg, 100ml of vg and 54mg nicotine base (pg 94%).
using post modern mixing calculator it suggest I use 2.8 pg liquid is this additional to the 0.9 pg nicotine base?
second question, do you need to add a dilutant?
ps I feel like a mad scientist lol
cheers

marky - if you use the mix calculater of the forum here - on the top - under the first A - you can't go wrong I follow what loads here do - I mix generally 20% flavour - and I don't use any dilutant - some use vodka for the vg - I don't

Hi using the forum calculator is easy what pg/vg ratio and strength of juice are you trying to make? I don't bother diluting just use pg vg nic base and flavouring. The flavouring is normally 100% pg unless otherwise stated. The nic base is counted as 100% pg as it's close enough. When adding the vg use a syringe without a needle it is easier to handle. The flavour percentage depends a lot on your taste and the brand you are using as they differ so much. Start low as some of mine only need 5% others need as much as 15%. You can easily add more flavouring but can't take it out so easily.

babs is right with the syringes - get a few in different sizes - and use cello tape over the numbers - or clear nail polish - so the numbers don't come off that easily I also use a 100ml cylinder for bigger amounts

Hi Clivia and Babs
Thank you for your quick replies : ) for some reason I can't get the forum mix calculator on my iPad and I can never b arsed to go upstairs and switch the PC on lol.
Am going to try and do 70 pg 30 vg is this right for more of a throat hit?
I've got plenty of differ syringes am a nurse lol ; )
The bit I don't understand is adding more pg even though the nicotine base is 100 pg
Do u know of a easier mix calc? And I will check out the mis threads : )
Cheers
Mark

because you only add little of the pg nic base - marky - as I am mixing 0 nic for hubby and about 14mg nic for me - I premix a 70/30 pg/vg mix - and then just add the nic for me - and there are also vg based nic bases

Sorry I couldn't reply to this thread earlier as it was in the "absolute beginners/new member" section where vendors aren't allowed to post.
I think that you've got it now:
Usually your mix will include Nicotine base AND flavour AND PG AND VG; the PG & VG being used to dilute the base to the correct strength and PG/VG ratio.
and 70%PG/30%VG is a fair ratio if you want a reasonable throat hit.
(PG has more throat hit than VG and carries flavours well. VG creates more vapour, carries flavours less well.)

Hi Marky - it's quite easy once you get into it, you'll probably have a few errors along the way but that's part of the fun of mixing your own as well as saving you money - the hardest part is waiting for the damn things to steep.... Good luck

marky - no you should not feel stupid - contrary - as so often said here : the only stupid question is the one you did not ask - I have asked zillions of questions already - and always with a great result
