If you're still suffering the closing throat sensation then drink loads of water and take an anti histamine such as a hay fever tablet, that should relieve the symptoms but sadly won't help the cause

VG - does generally mean vegetable glycerine - Boots just calls it value glycerine because it's so cheap

When I had nicotine poisoning at New Year, it was headaches, feeling jittery and with a wobbly tummy? sensations were very like when you catch a stomach bug. Once I realised I lowered my nicotine strength and all symptoms dissipated I prefer to vape a lot at low nic, than infrequent at higher, but if I'm out all day I use a stronger juice. Its quite a life change when you take up vaping, I now drink buckets of water (which is excellent for you) automatically and I don't get headaches any more. One weird symptom is I have quite a runny nose nowadays but I can live with that and its more likely a side effect of quitting the ciggies I don't recall every having a throat closing sensation? but as members have suggeasted, try more VG in your mixes and lower nicotine content and see if it helps alleviate

Thanks, Pep. The thought of you getting nic poisoning is quite worrying...good job you realised what was happening! Oddly, I'm a writer and I actually killed someone off with nicotine poisoning - twas a suicide, and she collected ciggie butts (in prison), soaked them in water and drank the fluid! Killed her! Made me feel a bit dodgy just thinking about it, but it was a very well know form of murder back in the day I feel quite a bit better today - the new juice that arrived a couple of days ago was from a different supplier, and it came in a 30ml bottle. I bought it as Hangsen Gold/Silver 24mg but it's not labelled as such. I'm just wondering if it's not the Hangsen one and that's why I feel better? It's definitely different. I was about to toddle off to Boots to get some of their Vg, but hopefully I won't need to now. I've also been reading a lot more on here and I think I will now get my juice from JooseJuice (sp). I never for one moment realised that Vaping would give me so many options...and fun! Thank you for your comments and advice

haha no, was my own fault.. you know how when you smoke, you fancy a ciggie, so light one up every hour or so? well I was loving vaping so much I just hammered my juice all day long without a break, lesson learned. I just vape lower nicotine mix now and keep the stronger stuff for when I'm out Hope the added vg sorts you out

tigerlilly the great thing about this forum is no question is too stupid. No body makes you feel small. I'm just hoping I helped a little And if you are sorted great - and if you are not - well you have options excluding tailor mades and roll ups Just don't phone the NHS if you do think you have nic poisoning (have had it a few times from nic liquid on hands) - they really freak out - even though the half life of nic is 2 hours so if you're not dead in 4 you're fine. When I had it I just rapidly dropped my nic for 2 hours and was fine .... Jane

There's a lot of hyped up hysteria ( IMO ) surrounding nicotine tigerlilly . . . it's a question of using your commonsense. Would you feel unwell if you chained smoked through your day, yes you probably would if your body isn't used to that level of nicotine intake. Vaping is no different, if you overdo it . . . have a break, eat/rehydrate and consider buying some lower strength eliquid with a higher VG content which is softer on the throat, if you'd like to chain vape. Which many of us do.

When I fist changed over from smoking, I liked a higher pg content in my eliquid because I enjoyed the throat hit (it mimicked that cigarette sensation) but in a very short while it felt itchy and scratchy on the back of my throat so I started to lower pg percentage down so now I vape more pg as I prefer lots of vapour and no throat scratch/hit.
So you may also find that you alter your pg/vg ratio in your juices over time, to suit your vaping style? I know I change my flavours lots too!! I now wonder how I could have smoked one boring tobacco when theres a trillion vape flavours out there!

Ello tigerlilly - hope the "smaller throat syndrome" has gone now. Someone mentioned hayfever earlier in this thread - I know it's getting a bit warmer & it really isn't hayfever season, but ... actually forget that because it's ridiculous of me to suggest that could be a very minimal reason. Like almost everyone has said, it could be the fact that you may have "over-vaped" (or whatever the technical term is) and your throat needs a rest. Sometimes if I've chain-vaped too much RY4 or King of Tobacco, I vape some mint or Red Cola & it soothes a bit. Stopping & having a drink helps too.

Thanks guys and gals! I guess this vaping lark has a bit of a learning curve with it, which, I have to admit, I didn't give much thought to at all! A couple of you have mentioned giving the vaping some welly - which, yep, I have done, whereas with a proper ciggie, we would have one and then not have another for an hour or so. I didn't realise that would happen. ??? So I think from all of the comments here I need to calm down the vaping, change from 24mg nic to a lower 'dose' and look to add some VG if things get bad again. Also drink loads of water and try some different flavours as well? I do have a chocco mint, which I love but that's 24mg as well...but only seems 'proper' to vape that in the evenings. anyway, thanks again for your input - I'm so glad I asked for help even if i do feel just a tad stupid! AND I had no idea you could freeze juices! I learnt that from Perpetua on another thread. What a great idea! Something else learned... everyone!

It well and truly is hayfever season for many people Mine starts in February and goes on until September! I spend a fortune on anti-histamines!

Vaping can be totally faff free and straightforward, but there are small tricks you can learn to improve your vaping experience. Basic stuff, like keeping your tanks gurgle free and cleaning to prevent problems..maintaining your vape gear, thats all useful. I dont know how I'd survive without kitchen roll and cotton buds! My friend happily vapes on a couple of 650 ego basic batteries with throwaway (weekly) ce4 tanks and one flavour of eliquid, she has no interest in fiddling and faffing! so that setup suits her. I quite enjoy tinkering so meddling about, trying loads of flavours and learning to mix my own and I find it fun learning to rebuild coils so really you can do as little and/or lots, depending on your interest
