Because of your kindness, generosity of spirit and willingness to share your expereiences and knowledge, I suspect there are many of us now, who are FREE! It's such a wonderful feeling. I just wanted to pop back here and say a huge thank you to all of you that gave help, advice and encouragement to me exactly one year and one day ago, when I found this forum. Without your kindness I would not have kicked the old stinkies and would not now, be feeling alive again, without chesty gross cough, and with no energy. I'd also be nearly 4k pounds worse off! My asthma has virtually gone and life has improved in so many ways and I've even been complimented on my nice skin and that's NEVER happened before.
What really worked for me was a post I read from another newbie - can't remember who now - who had decided to kick the stinkies, but had wisely decided to stop with the tobacco flavours as well. That was my epiphany moment; it made perfect sense to me, to kick out everything that was representative of 'proper fags', and as soon as I changed from tobacco to, in this case, Coconut juice, I was really on my way!
Another wonderful thing is that this year, finally, we have sold our house. We needed to for financial reason, but the previous year, it just stuck on the market...This year, of course, it was a smoke free home, where as the previous year, I was spending loads of money on Febreze, scented candles, diffusers etc to try to mask the smell of stale smoke, and I am wondering if now, that was another reason why the house didn't sell? I'm so aware of the odour of smoke now, esepcially when I go to my poor old mum's house. She still puffs away like a trooper - but she's 81 and has the right, I believe to do now what still makes her happy. Her life. Her choice.
Anyway, sorry I've rattled on, but I wanted to say that this forum, and the gerous people who continue to post, encourage and help newbies like me, have another non-smoker to add to their success list. I'm sorry I don't post much, but life is busy - busier now I don't smoke and have more energy...
Hopefully if there are any newbies reading this, then you'll understand that if I can do it (smoker for 40 years), so can you, and my goodness the benefits of being smoke free will amaze and delight you.
Thank you all again
Best wishes to you all

tigerlillyWell done on your 4 month stinkie free As to the weight gain, do you vape "sweet" flavours as many on here find if they vape these it helps with their naughty cravings. Think of it like this, a few pounds on is much "healthier" than inhaling burning leaves into you lungs. Good luck, keep it up. Thanks for the reply DiscoDes... I've taken your advice and found that coconut is helping. Cheers!

Just want to pop in and say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread but of course 'freefromsmoking' who got it going. I've just passed my four months and am so chuffed, so it was a shocker this weekend when everything went belly up! It seemed that all my clearos went wonky…my batteries went wonky (so I thought) and my husband and I went very wonky! Becuase of my huge equipment 'failure' he decided to take charge and clean everything…and he did, to perfection, whilst trying to keep me calm. He bought me new batteries and clearos but I still had a problem with leaky bits, gurgly bits and today I REALLY, REALLY wanted a stinky (first time in 4 months and I was disgusted with myself - but with trying to diet as well, cos of the HUGE weight gain - I'm not happy about that - well..) I was stressed - big time. I've enjoyed my success and today I felt…well I felt shitty! Then I decided to come on here and whoop, the first post I found was this one. And I am so pleased to say that I am back to normal and so is my stuff. Yep, I/we were screwing the drippy thing too tightly, screwing everything too tightly in fact…Normality has resumed. (And I've learned about that awful disgusting burning…ewwww - enought to make one throw up) Thank you all so much for giving your wise advice and for being here in my hour of need... All I have to do now is work out how to get rid of the weight. I'm miffed with that because I honestly thought that it was the nicotine that kept the old metabolism up…obviously it is something else in them thar rotten stinkies that do it...

You didn't miss much, Perpetua. First half was incredibly boring, second half a bit less boring…All I can think is God help them in the World Cup. Same old, same old… If only they could attack as well as they defend… They need a bit of fire in their bellies!

OK, a bottle of my favourite red, a pizza, an England game, an American peanut butter Ice-cream…and the best bit? A jolly good old vape! What joy. No-one offended by my theatrical rants about the footie - Rooney really does need to be got rid of (he does…honestly, when he was subbed the game changed so much for the better) - no complaints about smoke filled room…just complete harmony and lurve all around and me? Happy, happy and well…thank GOD for vaping. Simply the best! Just thought you'd all like to know how simplistic I am now (and no coughing - whoop) …but so, so happy….cheers!!! This little forum has given me so much…help, advice and well, YAY!!! My wonderful husband thanks you all too. Wow, things are getting better by the day!

All I can say is...she's my mum. 81 this year. An avid smoker (drinks like a fish too, bless her - Ginger wine, no less, but preferably mixed with a bit of Famous Grouse!! ) and now an avid vaper...Yes, she's had breast cancer, yes, she's a diabetic, and yes she's asthmatic. And yes, she's cut down from 25 cigs per day to 10 using her evo...Is she happy? You bet. We're off shopping next week. Going to NEXT so she can get some new clothes. She rather fancies a jump-suit! A side note: I'm so proud of her. She's had a rough time with my dad. He was a git, but she was sure and faithful. She looked after him. He abused her. She fought to get him the best care...and he abused her. She hasn't really lived becuase of his bullying ways and keeping her down - sad. I hated him...Thank God he died in January. She's found her feet, her freedom and her love of vaping and she feels free. I love her dearly and she is an absolute trooper and makes me laugh. She doesn't look 80 and she doesn't act 80. She's what I aspire to be... She likes RED batteries, cos they show her true colours...er, right! And she loves 24mg tobacco, thank you. Next week she reckons she's cutting to 5 a day. And do you know what? I think she will. She's a star. I'm proud. She's also kind, thoughtful and generous. My dad was never any of those things. She's held firm and strong - now she deserves to live a bit. She loves vaping...she also loves a bit of the funny stuff too, but should I mention that? :DIt's my son's fault!!

Thanks guys and gals! I guess this vaping lark has a bit of a learning curve with it, which, I have to admit, I didn't give much thought to at all! A couple of you have mentioned giving the vaping some welly - which, yep, I have done, whereas with a proper ciggie, we would have one and then not have another for an hour or so. I didn't realise that would happen. ??? So I think from all of the comments here I need to calm down the vaping, change from 24mg nic to a lower 'dose' and look to add some VG if things get bad again. Also drink loads of water and try some different flavours as well? I do have a chocco mint, which I love but that's 24mg as well...but only seems 'proper' to vape that in the evenings. anyway, thanks again for your input - I'm so glad I asked for help even if i do feel just a tad stupid! AND I had no idea you could freeze juices! I learnt that from Perpetua on another thread. What a great idea! Something else learned... everyone!
