I think I may have my first ever atty die on me It has a burnt taste, whatever I have tried, the burnt taste stays there, is it dead ??? For some unknown reason to me, I thought when they died they would either not work or wouldn't work well. Can't complain as it's the first one to die on me since I started to vape.

have you tried cleaning it yet ? Its DSE901, I have only blown through it a few times with a tissue as I have no idea of another way to clean it.

Check the end of the mouth piece that slides into the atty... I would bet it's melted and that's what's causing the burnt taste... If it's tasting burnt, then it's heating and therefore working. When atties die, sometimes they heat less well and/or they simply stop heating up. Sean

Sean I have tried different mouth bits and it still tastes burnt and I put the original mouth bit in another atty and that was fine ??? That is what is confusing me, it is heating but with a burnt taste

Hold it with tongs and pour hot water into it, let drain through then repeat a few times, once it's cooled a bit, give it a blow through onto tissue, then a dry burn for a few seconds...you might need to repeat, but that should clean it for you...

the make up of the DSE901 atty looks the same as a 510 so the cleaning methods should be the same
there are a whole heap of different methods from soaking over night in either vodka, bi carb of soda, denture cleaning tablets, white vinigar etc to shooting hot water through with a syringe

Bung it in the washing machine (Joking!) *Touchwood* I haven't had one conk out on me yet, but I have cartomisers too, just in case. I blast mine out every so often with a pressurised air duster, fairly cheap for a can from eBay or Amazon.

Unfortunately a hot atomiser that's under performing is a sign that it's clogged up Chillax, plus if you keep a finger on the activation button, that will also cause it to heat up and still do nothing. Two options really, have a go at cleaning it to see if it revives - something I've had zero success with and now don't even bother doing. Or bin it and use a fresh one, my preference these days.

Love your post....bin it and use a fresh one :-) I bet I go through all the above and still have to bin it because I dont have much luck at nursing things :-)

That's precisely what I did Chillax . . . even bought a little saucepan for the purpose of boiling atomiser's, unheard of for me to buy kitchen equipment . . . faffed the once with absolutely no success whatsoever, thought burger that for a lark. The bin is my first and only option now.

The vodka bath definitely works, I soak my 306 atomisers after every 10mls of juice used, or when they get hard to draw on. After the soaking, just blow out and re-use. They then become much easier to draw on again. No idea if this method works on any other atomiser, but it does for 306's.
For the burnt taste, that sounds like the wick has burnt. Once this happens, it'll always taste burnt. Could try removing the wick and use as a dripping atty maybe.
