Hi everyone! Thanks for this great forum and all the information you're giving out here! It's really invaluable to someone new like me, who's pretty confused with the choice there is out there for eCigarettes. So I'm probably going to repeat a question that's been asked many times here, but I can't quite find the answer while browsing, so I thought I might take the chance to say hello, and ask at the same time! I've tried what I think is called a 'first generation' eCig - one of the ones that looks like a real cigarette. I like it, but it's not quite doing it for me. But I feel really sure that this is the right idea for me to quit 'the real ones'. I recently had some advice from a 'quit smoking' counsellor who was a BIG fan of eCigs, even though I don't think it was what she was 'officially' supposed to be suggesting!: anyway, she said I should try a 2nd generation or 3rd generation eCig, because they give you more of the feeling of a real cigarette. This sounds perfect to me, but... this is where I got lost! I'm not really sure what a 2nd gen or 3rd gen eCig is..!, and I'm confused by all the info from different places... Can anyone help me out there..? I'm not bothered by whether it actually looks like a cigarette or not (I thought it was to start with, but I'm not now). I don't mind it being a bit bigger than a cigarette, though ideally not TOO bulky to carry around in a pocket. I definitely don't think I fancy something which I have to customise etc, or go to a lot of effort with liquids and stuff: I think I'm looking for something that's going to be really easy, that I can just pick up and use. Can anyone advise me on something which kind of fits with that description..? And also: where do I actually GET one of these things from, what's the best place to buy from..? Really hope someone out there has the time to help me out! - I'm really keen to get one of these! And I'm sorry for what must be a repeat question you've dealt with many times! Thanks a lot in anticipation... Paul (pretty much complete newbie!)

Hi and welcome. I think 2nd generation are the ego sized kits something like this myepack.co.uk/kits/mini-protank-2-kit.html or this myepack.co.uk/kits/itaste-vv-v3-o.html you will need juice to go with them and its best to have at least 2 batteries. I think 3rd generation are bigger mods and not really for a newbie but someone will soon say if I'm wrong. I started with the protank kit linked but soon moved on to the itaste vv and I am still happy with it. Myepack is a very well liked vendor and very quick with delivery. Btw I have no connection to them just as a purchaser. If you buy the itaste vv kit they also sell the battery alone.

Hi and . I can also recommend the itaste vv from myepack as I bought it over a week ago and I'm loving it. I smoked 30 a day and I'm not even thinking about them now. I bought the kit that included 5 iclear16 clearomisers for £29.99. It's really simple to use and filling the iclears with juice is easy too. Good luck with whatever you decide to buy.

Ello pw77 & you are completely right about this great site - I was exactly the same as you & thought that I could trick my brain into thinking I was having a real cigarette because it looked like one, had the long white bit & the short orangey bit. BUT! I am so glad I didn't go down that route, and went straight down the Evod route & flavours of my choice, rather than the "lookalike" things. Everyone has their own "Starter" favourite - mine is the Evod - myepack.co.uk/kits/evod-starter-kit.html - I was so impressed with the first two that I now have TEN of them with different flavours in each one Have you heard of shinyitis? It is a myth, and I don't believe that it really exists. Ask anything you like here, because all these people are brilliant!!

hi and welcome pw77 - as said before myepack is a great vendor - good prices and very quick delivery and yes you need the juices - and that's the biggest fun - all the different flvours - don't buy too much of a flavour at the beginning joosejuice sells the 10ml for £1.49 - but you need to let them rest - steep as we say here - so maybe if you decide what battery you like - I too love the itaste vv - easy and not too big - you might get yourself a small selection of juices that talk to you and just try it learning by doing and at the same time enjoying it - and ask as much as you want - we all do

Hiya pw77 and from me too. I've not been here long and fully started vaping roughly 4 weeks ago. Smoked for 25 years and I have not touched a real smoke since, sooo glad I started vaping! I started on a cigalike (like you and many many more) which didn't work for me so I purchased a more expensive kit that had cigalike batteries, but instead of a cartomizer it had a small clearomizer that you fill with eliquid. Although it worked for me for a week or so I felt it wasn't enough as I got fed up with charging the batteries constantly and refilling the small tank many times a day, so I bought the little Mini Protank kit (linked above in babs post) plus a spare battery and for me it's great, I don't have to charge the batteries up too often and I use it at work and at home. If the variable voltage thing confuses you, as it did me at first, then maybe this EVOD Starter Kit (or something similar) might be up your street, it's simple and easy to use. I'd also recommend Myepack too as it's a really good value UK site with great service and (as far as I am aware) many people here buy from them (as do I). You will also need some ejuice to go into it, I can't recommend the juice on Myepack as i have never bought any there as I get mine from other vendors. We all have different tastes and there are sooo many ejuices to choose from too. Don't be afraid to ask any questions here, someone will answer no matter how trivial you think it maybe, i've learnt alot from here and am so glad I joined. Oh, and since my Protank starter kit i've also bought a Cool Fire 1 with a charger and batteries along with many ejuices from various sites!

Welcome pw77Cig-a-likes (gen 1.) are not great for most smokers. All those "Vapers" out there using certain brands are either "dual fueling" or have cut down their nicotine intake dramatically... like a semi-placebo product. My "quit" adviser laughed when I told him I was Vaping. He expected me to pull out a cig-a-like..... What actually happened was he pulled out an eGo e-cig and said "I have an e-cig".... expecting me to be impressed. I then showed him ....a Lavatube with a Vivi Nova. I'm not sure gen 3. really exists... unless a light sabre with a massive rebuildable atomizer qualifies.... First, there was a bike.... it was shi* and too much work. Secondly, there was a car.... it was good and did the job better. Thirdly, there were more cars..... but they were still cars..... Something like that.

Hi pw77, a fellow newbie,
You will get loads of advice from these guys, so listen to them, this place is excellent.
The secret is find a vaper that you can sit down with mano-a-mano and have a chat about it. Have a look at the kit available and decide your cost vs benefits options. Nobody can really tell you what you will be comfortable with, only offer their best opinion. In the first instance, don't worry about the little things like "what has the best flavour" or "what kit is the best". Do your research and ask lots of questions. I started out big with a VTR and that works for me, but you may want to try others. Whatever gets you off the Stinkies (Cigarettes) is good. Listen to these guys they know what they are talking about.
Stick with it, you will get used to the jargon and options available.
Good Vaping!

pw77 tell your smoking cessation advisor I have banana bread up here in the granite city for them Really such sound advice is rare . I started on e-cigs just under 3 years ago because I wanted more nic than NRT at the time could give me. It worked (took about 3 months to stop the cigs). Back then there wasn't much choice like there is now but still. Got me off cigs (though there was more choice than when Chrissie started and they were cheaper). Mod by the way is another name for battery tubes that you can use if you choose to (and then put your top bit where you have your juice and element with wick on top)... Fab advice already given . Can't really add anything. Just to say this is a fab forum and no question is too dumb ...we're here to help Jane
