I have no major problem with this apart from...
#30... 'free' NHS services are tested and proven... 'to not work in the majority of cases' (my own opinion) This is my biggest beef, pushing the useless solutions that keep the 'brown envelopes' flying around.
#31... agree that 'marketing' needs to be monitored
#32... quite happy to be treated as a 'smoker'... it has worked for me for nearly 2 years, but I do accept that others (at the moment) think it's the same... so we shouldn't push it in their faces.
#33... no problem
#34... no problem
#35... do not agree that it is a 'gateway', if it is, then those that succumb to going onto tobacco need some serious therapy.

#30 should be advised they are there, yes, but also it should be pointed out that they are proved to be rather ineffective and a waste of public money.. #31 how do you restrict PVs to smokers only? unless, let's see...they're on prescription maybe ?? what tosh.. #32 rubbish... they've been proved not to renormalise smoking because, let's see... they AREN'T smoking #33 is about banning flavourings, can't believe Raffles you have no probs with that ? #34 how on earth can you do that sensibly? Show blackened lungs and state that if you smoke and don't switch, your lungs will end up the same? nonsensical.. #35 it has been proved YET AGAIN this week there is NO gateway effect.... Once again so much ignorance of the whole concept being shown.... more proof it's all about the money....

GunJack... I don't agree with major (i.e.TV) adverts promoting them on that basis. No way would I agree to the loss of 'freedom of choice'. It should be all about quitting the damn fags, and not about taking up another addiction (allbeit safer) Totally agree with your final statement, a lot of people are going to be hurt (BigT & BigP) and 'hurrah' for that.

Raffles, just to clarify, I didn't mean you were showing ignorance of the subject, I was referring to the twonks who put this package of proposals forward... ...soz if I wasn't clear, certainly wasn't trying to insult you

#35 it has been proved YET AGAIN this week there is NO gateway effect.... That's the thing though, the meeting was held in February and until this week, there had been no widely accepted research that proved this (and by widely accepted, I really mean the media). Now ASH has undertaken and published this research, opinion, particularly in the media, has swung massively in our favour. If the momentum continues, there may be enough support for vaping that the recommendations have to be revised or am I just being naively optimistic?

Bloody Nanny State.
If people or places or institutions want to have their own bans, so be it.
Making Vaping illegal by law removes the possibility of people using e-cigs in places where maybe it would harm nobody and have zero negative consequences.
Why shouldn't folk vape in a pub if it suits the pub? This isn't possible premature death by passive smoking anymore.

Here's a thought. If you allowed Vaping in Hospitals, maybe smokers wouldn't go outside and over a few days they might realise they don't even need to dual fuel. ?? That would be BRILLIANT.

However, we do know that the government and the media need everything spelt out to them in Janet and John language, so maybe it's finally starting to sink in

A lot of knee jerking amongst the community. The "report" has already been denied by Public Health England. Don't forget the consideration given to "ban the burqua" appeals. Or the many who find breast feeding in public off putting. Although perfectly legal, whipping out a tot of whisky isn't allowed in hospitals either. We live in a society. Even if irrational, we have to let people of different views have their say. Even as a keen vaper, I wouldn't like someone blowing clouds in a pub. And you know fine well, some would.
