No, it's only Thunderbird that hangs, OE was fine except the spam filtering was worse than useless, the forwarding would be from my domain emails, my host will only let me forward within the domain, I need a client to forward outside

I use Outlook Express for the 3 main ones, also have Hushmail Asia account and Hushmail .com. I do not use, or know anything about, email spam filters and have never used any.
I do not get SPAM, used to get it, that stopped in 2000 or maybe 2001.

The problem I have with spam is exaggerated by having my own business, website & company email address which HAS to be available publicly, the bots then pick it up & sell it on, you'd be amazed how many sex aids they try to sell me, & cars... mainly from the USA, I also get a lot from China (nothing to do with our good friends here) the strangest ones are the few that are being sent from the future.... I have one in my spam box that was supposedly sent from China in 2026

Outlook 2013 is by far and away the best email client. I'm in no way a Microsoft fan, but they got Outlook right in 2010 and 2013 is even nicer to use. Nothing worse than a clunky email client when you rely on multiple accounts every day, Outlook does its job and does it very, very well.

I have one in my spam box that was supposedly sent from China in 2026 If you have not tried already, you could try - using webform on site for contact with php forwarder to web remailer, then to desktop. Add captcha to webform submission. From webform set up "landing page" with tracker, log landing page and form, you'll ID spammer, then use htaccess file to block IP. Also block proxy access to site. Company email if must be on site use "riddlers", to reduce from spidering/bots. Sometimes business/companies/websites suffer SPAM or other issues when an unscrupulous rival site gets someone to do that for them as they don't like fair competition. Another way but not for businesses, is to make example of some spammers. Edit:I forgot to ask why does the email "has to be available publicly", because of spider/bot will find that ? The spider it just grabs the files you tell it to, so they select/tick emails, then they check, and sell the cut down lists to marketer, these then send spam. So if you must to have the email displayed, then you can make that at an image. In the folder permission you alter settings status for the images folder, and also you use the robots.txt to prevent spidering of images. The Web Robots Pages

Forward emails to whatever gmail addy ya like. That's what I do. I've got my own website domain and email addy, but have all the email from that sent to one of my gmail accounts.

I agree with your sentiments towards Microsoft but the unfortunate reality is that accounts such as hotmail and gmail have pretty much killed off email client development. Many years ago Eudora used to be the client of choice but it seems to have died. I really don't think there is any perfect client out there, it will all be compromise of some kind or another.

I have never heard of anyone who can't get Thunderbird to work though. I would have someone in to look at your whole setup.
