I'm taking a group of 10 "lads" well grown up men in the loosest of terms aged 30 to 69 to Jersey for a long weekend on the 30th, any tips on where to eat, what to see etc?
organised the Brewery tour for the Friday afternoon, and plans to go to the wildlife park and underground war tunnels on the Saturday or Sunday. any suggestions would be welcomed as I have not been there before. I'm sure I can manage to sort an obligatory pub crawl but would like some ideas etc Not seen any Vapers on our map in Jersey either, so do you know of any B&M shops on the isle? thanks in advance

ausfost ... Stop it... you're making me jealous! Haven't been there for nearly 8 years, but before that a mate and myself went there for 5 years on the trot, usually for a week in the Spring. Stayed in the same St Helier B&B each time, run by a lovely Italian couple who stayed after the war. Used to buy a weeks ticket for the local bus service, and used to just jump on and off as we toured the island. The places we visited most years were... Attractions - Underground Hospital (a must even if you do it just once) Jersey Museum (St Helier) Jersey Zoo (beautiful grounds) Corbiere lighthouse (at sunset) Mont Orgueil Castle (Gorey) Day trip to Guernsey Any visitors bus trip around the island pointing out place of interest. Regular Pubs - Old Court House Inn (St Aubin)... Was the Royal Barge (Diamond Lil) in the Bergerac TV series Le Moulin de Lecq (Greve de Lecq - north of island) Cock & Bottle, Royal Square (St Helier) - on a sunny day where you can sit outside in the square watching the world go by. Plus so many more I can't remember... there's history around every corner... you're abroad, but not as you know it. There was a lot of building going on there the last time, so, by now, I imagine a lot has changed. Enjoy it when you go... I love the place. ETA: Places to eat... everywhere. There was a Chinese restaurant we always went to, can't remember the name now but in St Helier, where I kept dropping my fortune cookie because the the waitresses were so gorgeous, and a fish restaurant down some back street, where I had the best meal I've ever had, again in St Helier.

thanks for the tips Raffles we are booked in at a small hotel on the outskirts with good reviews, not really chosen for it's proximity to the brewery! (did i mention we are a Beer and skittles team?) i have got the bus times and even applied (and got) a loyalty card for Randalls pubs they give 20% of every purchase as credit, will probably rack up enough for a couple of free beers over the weekend

My vote for the best meal ever is a little Thai place in St Helier called The Dicq shack, it's nothing more than a large garden shed on the slipway opposite DeNormandie hotel, you can eat in... just.. but the food is AMAZING. And a petrolhead like myself just had to visit the Mansell collection

I go there now and then on business and stay in a little Boutique Hotel called "The Inn" at the top of Rouge Bullion, I tend to eat there as I can't be ars*d to walk down into town. The Bars are mainly around Liberation Square including some very posh (expensive) ones in the Hotels like The Royal Yach Hotel & Pomme D'Or, plenty of places to eat as well with a good curry house called Jaipur at 10 the Esplanade I have found the other Indian Restaurants "in town" to be a bit disappointing. There's also a good Thai in the area although I'm not sure what it's called. Last time I was there I was suffering with a bad cold and went in and had some extremely hot food to try and shift it!
It's a nice little island, my mate lives there and has the Sunseeker Dealership on the Harbour in St Helier.
Enjoy!

I'm a Jersey native from St Brelade. I'm between Jersey and the North West a lot with work, mostly in NW. Be sure to take plenty of vaping provisions as AFAIK there aren't any vape stores on the island, except one online store that I know of. Raffles pretty much hit the nail on the head with some of the best attractions, there's not a lot else I could recommend. Corbiere is a particular favourite on a clear evening. I've walked that path across to the light house a thousands times at low tide on spring and summer evenings, it can get a bit nippy mind if there's a wind. You also need to keep an eye on the tide as the path becomes reclaimed by the sea very quickly if you decide to walk across. If you're interested in a trip to the beach I would definitely check out Plemont bay, it's IMO the nicest beach on the island and the only one I really visit though it can become a little crowded after lunch. There's a bit of a climb to get back up from the beach, but it's well worth a visit. There's a really nice cafe overlooking the beach. Just make sure you check the times for the tides as the beach becomes completely covered during high tide. I certainly hope you enjoy your trip!

thankyou all for your suggestions. Had a great visit to Jersey but ashamed to say that we visited none of the places we intended to, arrived off the ferry to get on the coach driven by a Scouser, at the hotel greeted by the owner, an Aussie, the Glaswegian barman sorted us out with drinks and the Portuguese porter showed us to our rooms! spent the weekend consuming food and drink (well mostly drink to be honest) the brewery tour led by a chap from Chichester was spot on and we consumed plenty of free samples, we got the bus (Portuguese driver) to go to the zoo but got off at Gorey for a quick drink in the Dolphin pub where I met 4 blokes from my village who now live there so we spent the rest of the day there drinking, went to St Aubin, lovely harbour served by a Romanian barmaid, in the pub owned by a YamYam, however we did actually meet a Jersey native whilst we we there!
would definitely recommend going to actually see the sights and will probably go and do it properly with the good lady wife at some point in the future,

ausfostWas wondering how you got on, glad you enjoyed it. The Dolphin was our watering hole after climbing up to Mont Orgueil Castle. Just in case you're missing it already or were too drunk to take a piccie...
