As we seem to be getting lots of the stuff, and as most of us have to go out in it, especially when dog walking/other outdoor activities, I did think, as I walked up the road this morning with my trusty ego in my pocket.......is this safe? Now if the said pocket remained bone dry, then I wouldn't have thought twice, but......it doesn't......stay dry that is. So, is it safe to keep and use a vape stick in the damp/wet? Actually, my main concern is keeping it in a damp pocket? Silly question? I've not exploded yet, but hoping it's not just luck. cheers peeps

Hi It's not a great match, dampness and batteries. The wet could short out the battery, but most likely you'll wreck the PCB if you put power through it when damp. You can get waterproof pen holders, or another pocket might be a good idea. We don't need the bad press of another exploding ego.

Dry it out in rice when you get home should be fine An alternative is a magneto. Just change the battery when you get home. Dry all the innards with kitchen roll, dry the battery and you should be fine The only time I've gotten an e-cig majorly wet was a lavatube ( Perpetua) that I managed to literally drown 2 years ago in a handbag (leaky water bottle). It didn't work for much longer LOL. Batteries were dried out in rice a long with the lavatube. The lavatube didn't make it . Don't know about egos though. Never really used them

Interesting topic, I suspect there are a good few fesherpeople (how pc) (Anglers then) and Kayakers, Metal Detectorists, Field Walkers and the like. yeah Yeah, I'm all of the above. It would be interesting to see what sort of equipment stand up to the harsh UK weather conditions. If we have "Tough phones" Maybe I should go and mod an Ego to be a (Tough vape pen) I have no car at the moment so no Kayaking this summer unfortunately (very sad) and I used to keep my rollies in a little waterproof case thing (for kayaking) Sit on top fishing kayak so it isn't like you can slip your vape under the skirt and on your lap like a Sit In Sea Kayak. Hmmmmm much to think about. Ruff. (not feeling as ruff anymore lol)

I only take my Spinner with a Protank on it when out kayaking (Sea Kayak, ruffdog!), and that goes in my BDH (Screw-top plastic cylindrical container) along with phone and car keys. This in turn goes in a waterproof drybag, which in turn goes in a waterproof hatch at the rear of my kayak. It might get a bit salty from water on my hands when we stop for a coffee somewhere, but I never use it when on the water - just too much of a risk, and I think I can manage for a couple of hours without vaping!

Cool to know. There was something nice about sitting in the middle of the ocean, in the sun (well sometimes) reels out kick back and smoke a ciggy. roll up, just toss overboard when done. (canny stand people who throw proper fag buts anywhere but a bin) I do suspect i would look quite silly laying back puffing away on a MOD when the reel starts a screaming and all hell breaks loose. But now you say " A couple of hours WITHOUT vaping" are you high. lol Ruffie.

thanks for the discussion so far, not that I'm going back, but with stinkies in the rain, well, it either went out or didn't, got soggy etc.......bleurgh I did make myself one of those case things you can buy to hang round your neck on a lanyard (cos I bought one of those too though no idea why) so maybe put my vape stick in that inside my coat when out in the rain......dryer than a wet pocket. And as seniorphil says, don't want any more exploding stuff, but actually, if it did, I wouldn't mention it.......not going to give the twit anti campaign any more ammo! Cheers peeps
