I watched them both and was well pissed off. 2 hours watching folk smoke analogues is no longer my idea of fun.

One thing I did find interesting on this show was I can now see exactly why Big Tobacco fighting on "our side" isn't helping our cause at all.
Whilst they are supporting harm reduction and going for the healthier option with advertising and big budgets they are aggressively selling cancer sticks into poorer countries to kids and advertising tobacco with no restrictions which is where all their money comes from.
And they wonder why people don't believe they've turned a new leaf and we are getting tarred with their terrible reputation because it looks like they are trying to hijack e-cigs to give their industry a respectable face. To the media e-cigs are made by big Tobacco, Big Tobacco ARE lying cheating scumbags without exception.
Pisses me off no end, e-cigs would be much better off if Big Tobacco kept it's Midas touch off them.

Pisses me off no end, e-cigs would be much better off if Big Tobacco kept it's Midas touch off them. I am trying Vype(s). If this is BTs answer to e-cigs, then "Houston, we have a problem". This product is insanely poor. I am yet to work out what's going to happen, but it seems to me that the Vype is nothing more than pandering to people who want to dual fuel. This, viewed cynically, is actually a Nicotine-intake-increasing product. Nobody is going to stop smoking with a Vype. (clearly, I exclude the 10 silk cut or "social" smoker...) I think they have a clear intention. Sell e-cigs to people who know no different, get them dual fuelling and upping their intake.

Vypes are shite, there's no doubt amongst seasoned vapers but BAT have the advertising revenue to push Vype into everyone's TVs, billboards and buses etc. The more they advertise the more we are accused of supporting Big Tobacco and it's dreadful business practises because to the layman vaping will equal Vype etc.
It all kind of plays in the hands of the MEPs/ Glans/ McKee and Chapman who are the enemy at the moment.
And like you said, all over a product that vapers wouldn't touch with a bargepole, but we are the minority against the people BAT are aiming for with the Vype.

caught up with ep.2 on iplayer - the main conclusions I've come to are:- 1. BAT are only in it for the money, with no real concept of vaping, and 2. Peter Taylor has been covering tobacco for too long, as he thinks vapes are "still cigarettes" oh, and 3. WELL DONE to the derbyshire GP who believes in vaping so much he's opened his own vape-place next door to his surgery

What I got from it is that we need to work harder on the message that Heavy handed and restrictive regulation will be gifting the whole industry to People like BAT, who will simply seek to exploit it in exactly the ways that The antis are accusing the whole industry of doing right now. Leaving us with Second rate first generation cigg a likes that simply won't cut it as a safe alternative.

After slagging off the Vype it occurred to me that of course it's shit. BAT have designed it to be shit.
If all their money comes from tobacco cigarettes why would they want to design a replacement that is better in a market where they'd have to compete with others making something better than they do?
They make good tobacco, it earns them billions. They can't earn billions from e-cigs (yet) so why compete with their own money maker.
