Ok, kind helpful people - I have just mixed my first ever Lemon & Lime juice, using the AAEC mix calc up there ^^^^^ A couple of things I encountered. It would only let me do 60/40 PG/VG, not stronger, saying there wasn't enough VG in the recipe mix. Is that because of the 72mg/ml Nicotine in VG? I wanted it 70/30 but it wouldn't let me Also - my syringes. I have got LOADS of small thin syringes from ebay, and they are marked in UNITS not ml and I couldn't for the life of me find a conversion chart to convert the units to ml. The syringes are marked U-40 Insulin and the measuring bit up the side goes up to 40 units. Is 40 units 1ml? The 2.5ml syringe I got from Alchemist Cupboard was great, but I used that for everything without cleaning it inbetween 'doses' - is that ok? Thanks - I will try it tomorrow so will let you know how disgusting it is

Did I read that right that you have nic base in VG? If so, then you should be able to add much more PG, as the only PG in your mix will be the base for the flavouring?? Can you pop the calculations in again and then post a screenshot of the page so we can have a look CaptainChaos? As far as the syringes are concerned, suck up 1ml of water in the 2.5 and squirt it carefully into a cup or beaker. Then suck up the water with the syringe marked in units and see where it gets to. I haven't come across syringes marked in Units before, but I'm sure someone on here will have done. Sorry I can't be of more help

You can get up to 66.6/33.3 PG/VG with that CaptainChaos. As you're using 33.33% of nic base to get 24mg strength, you can basically use no VG, other than your nic base. Your flavouring is PG based. If you use the calc, just add together the PG & VG amounts it tells you to use, then just use that total amount for your PG. In the recipe above, that would be 2.33ml of PG. Does that make sense?

OK, I've just run your figures through the calculator, and the closest you can get is 55/45 PG/VG - it is indeed because of the the fact that your nic base is VG, not PG. The good news is that your figures were absolutely on the button, so well done for that!!

That, lairey, is why you are a mathematician and I'm a musician (and no, the two do NOT go hand in hand, contrary to common belief!!).

CaptainChaos I've done the same calculation as you only mine came out slightly different ! The only difference is I've put lemon and lime flavour into flavour 1 box. You have yours in vodka/PGA box. Your final mix your looking for is 24mg 70pg/30vg?

Thanks for answering so quickly, chykensaHere we go & please don't laugh at my pathetic first attempt: Mine below ! There's a difference when you use the flavour box??? Can someone clarify these figures ?

I think it's 0.5ml pg is the difference because in captains recipe there is no accounting for the pg in flavours??

From what I remember U-40 is just the grade of insuline. U-40 would be 40 units per ml, U-100 would be 100 units per ml. I'm not 100% but the capacity of the syringes does vary. Best check is what chykensa has already suggested, but the most common size is 1ml.

This is the closest to 70/30 (67/33) I could get using vg nic base Try popping you flavour into the box that says flavour 1. Also if you hit 70/30 and you get an error then slightly change 70/30 up and down till the error disappears. It's fractions of a ml and won't make all that much difference in the end

Ok, my head has just exploded - I'll try the one I made later & if I don't end up in A&E. I'll try your recipe, rednuttThank you all for your advice etc. And Lairey, the answer to your question is "no" but thank you for having a go explaining mathematical formulae to someone who hasn't been to school for over 30 years. I was always good at English & P.E. (and setting fire to the gas taps in the chemistry lessons)

CaptainChaos there will be absolutely nothing wrong with yours. You still have the same amount nicotine and flavour in it. It will always be the same figures for nic and flavour in 5ml for 24mg 20%. All your playing about with there is the ratio of vg pg you want. Let us know how your 1st mix vapes

Ok, I have tasted my first ever mix & it's not horrible. It's not great either - just a very very weak sort of lime flavour with not much vapour either or throat hit I might just add a few drops of the flavour in it to try & get more lemon/lime out of it. Hey ho, back to the drawing board, I guess.

CaptainChaos - all those weeks that you've been reading about steeping juices, and you still haven't learnt!! You will find that after a few days that flavour will become more pronounced, don't add any more flavour yet; you can always add more later, but you can't take it away again
