Well as im waiting for my kayfun I thought I would have a go at recoiling a protank2 mini. In pic form, this is what happened. I think there was a few to many wraps on there. Sod it at 8.5w it will output 5.83095 volts, so i gave it a go. Result: Vapable, not the biggest cloud i have got from the protank, but definatly a better taste than silica.

Maybe. I'm keen to understand this a bit more though cos what you've done is very similar to what I did earlier but with a somewhat different result in terms or resistance. There seem to be a number of variables that affect how this works - diameter of rod or pin you wrap coil on, type and size of wire and (according to the chap in my local shop who demonstrated this to me) whether or not the coils are all touching each other or not.

hijack Arcturion have a look at this chart i made, it will give you some help on wires etc etc: The chart is based on making a Microcoil.

Arcturion I was using 3/32nd drill bit with .2 kanthal, I didn't get to pinch the coil together as I couldn't find my pointy pliers, and ended up with a 4 Ohm coil. What were your results?

Super-Shiny That's great thanks a lot, ill copy that and keep it handy. yeh seems I should have used the .3 and would have got a better result. Edit: ive added it to my favourites

Thanks Super-Shiny! hijack I used 8 wraps of .25 wire on a random little screwdriver that my local shop gave me. I've just measured it and it looks to be 2mm. I did heat the coils and pinch them and I ended up with 2.3ohms.

hijack - well done for having a go & some success with it too! My close-up eyesight is way too bad to even think about doing it, so fair play to you!

And ill have to look better for those pliers. Might try again later with the .3 and the 1/16th.

hijack have a look at this guide if you ain't already: Clicky0.25 Kanthal is a good all rounder ArcturionIf you used 0.25 Kanthal with 8 wraps around a 2mm screwdriver you should get around 1.7ohms, 2.3ohms seems high but this also depends on how long the legs are. When wrapping the coil around the screwdriver wrap it tight, also if you have a digital calliper measure the wire thickness, plenty of times the wrong size has been supplied.

Thanks Super-Shiny. I should say though that I don't yet own an Ohm Meter. That resistance was what my iTaste v3 says. Interestingly my Vamo v5 says 2.1ohm. So, let's call it 2.2! If I posted a pic you'd see that it's not exactly a work of art so it's no surprise that it's a bit out of whack.

Those look very handy. I did look at your guide to see how the legs went on a protank recoil, I should have read a bit more closely on wire gauge to use ect. I only thought I would have a go as I am waiting for a KFL to arrive, and I think ive watch so many vids on coiling that, I probably confused myself into thinking 8 wraps with .2 on a 2.5mm bit was ok. Live and learn. anyway im just about finished that tank of juice so ill have another go.
