I use this blowtorch for all my coils. Worth it's weight in gold! For kanger heads, I found 1.5mm coils to work the best. Easiest to install too. With regards to cotton, I've been using rico fashion summer white cotton from hobbycraft. So much easier to replace now. No more guessing how much cotton to use! Used cotton pleat from tesco previously. Ps. Your 0.20 kanthal isn't a complete loss for microcoils. Especially if you own an electric drill!

I found a small screwdriver earlier, I need to measure it but it looks about right, if not I'll just get that mandrel. I was convinced there was a blow torch in the garage but no. What sort of difference are we talking between a micro single coil in a regular protank head vs the new dual coil stock kanger heads? Mainly in terms of throat hit, as I just find throat hit to be really inconsistant with my aerotank (but more consistant than doing 5 wrap silica wicks in a protank head. Does that make sense?

dannyw14 if it doesn't fit it won't vape so try it literally I bodged a protank micro coil once. the stem wouldn't fit on and when I measured the resistance it came up with crazy numbers. Took off the stem and it was fine. There was a prob with my coil. So seriously try it ....and then measure the resistance

Went to local Hobbycraft. No Rico stuff on shelves. Had a look through the clearance bin and found some. Reduced to £2 for 65 metres. At the checkout I was told it's only £1. Now wondering whether to buy a lottery ticket or have I used up today's luck. Thanks Dan for the info. Do any of you knitters/sewers know which of all the numbers on the label indicate the thickness so I know what to get in 3 years time when I've run out?

Thanks @johanino. Hook/needles size is 8-10.
Other numbers on the label are:- Farbe 001, Partie 51, 12 Maschen & 15 Reihen.
I think the size might be 001 having been searching and found that the higher the number the thinner the yarn.

Yeah but it's super chunky I read somewhere or super bulky and it's discontinued (maybe someone should write/email rico and ask them to redo it if only for vapers ). I phoned the local hobby craft. Nothing of it. Nothing super chunky (that's what you want) in cotton in the local John Lewis. Mixture of things like cotton and polyester or cotton and acrylic but nothing I would really be happy vaping and expensive (about £8 a ball) We are going to have to scour the internet like it's gold dust LOL Or go back to our cotton wool balls LOL JAne

I don't have the link, but IMHO Kemp's Wool is the cheapest, & may just have what you are looking for...& yes it's ' chunky ' that you want. I hope this helps

Seems us vapers have killed their stock levels That's the stuff! This cotton, could I ask please, firstly is it not bleached ? Secondly do you have to boil it or anything before use. Thirdly how do you use it, do you twist pieces together? Lastly does it work for all protank/evod single coils or are you making the coils a specific size?

I haven't boiled mine yet but I will be trying it to see if it makes any difference. Fairly simple to use. Thread it through the coil and trim. One thing i like is that it's hollow like ekowool and so you can thread a piece of normal cotton through it once in situe to aid wicking should you want to. I'm using it in coils wrapped around a 3mm drill bit in my kayfuns but there a few people using it coils of 1.5mm (perfect size for kanger coils). hope that helps
