I've just about got all my stuff ready to start mixing and was wondering... I know the nic base should be kept in a cool, dark place, presumbly the VG & PG also, but what about the concentrates?
And would a fridge be too cold (or not cold enough), I've bought some airtight containers to keep everything together and now need to gain permission from 'she who must be obeyed' but I thought I'd check here first

A fridge may be too cold for concentrates, but not 100% on that. I know you shouldn't freeze flavours/concentrates. Me? Everything in a cool cupboard exept nic which I freeze in 50ml batches, keeping the nic in the fridge once I've started using them.

Fridge is fine for concentrates. Although mine are all on a shelf as there's not enough room in the fridge

I'm lucky in so much as I have our main fridge (full) a cattery fridge (some space) and a drinks fridge (glass door so not dark) I was thinking of using some space in the cattery fridge, it only gets opened twice a day so will remain dark most of the time, I'm not going to bother with freezing, this is my first attempt so I'll probably go mad and mix the lot when I find the time

I keep all my flavours, PG and VG in a poundland plastic container box underneath my sink, the cold water pipe and air coming in from around the pipes keeps them at a reasonably cool temperature I recently bought a lot of nic base so I've put a 100ml bottle in my fridge and I got some amber glass bottles from my local pharmacy and put 100ml of nic base in my freezer for use in the future.

I keep my mixing supplies in a big lidded plastic box under the bed. I think my vaping mate and I will use our nic base before it goes out of date, so haven't bothered freezing, but we are considering buying a litre when we see a good offer, and I suspect that will end up in a freezer somewhere.

I started off keeping my concentrates just in the fridge - in an attempt to be orderly/tidy. Which I'm not known for when it comes to DIY mixing it has to be said. Since then, there's been a rather epic and unforeseen concentrate expansion program, which now means I've a kitchen cupboard dedicated to them as well. There's no reason why you can't freeze concentrates Ripshod, although if you do, then it's advisable to decant them into glass bottles as with nic base - to stop plasticizers leeching into the flavouring and vice versa. Though long, long term frozen storage you'll likely find the flavours have peaked off.

I've found flavours that I've frozen become muted. Mainly menthol mints and other aromatics. Even ginger lost it's taste before.

Have you frozen them in glass bottles? It does help delay the degrading process - I'm using some frozen Capella Vanilla Custard, which I tucked away a couple of years ago now and it's fine. Although as a rule I don't bother freezing concentrates it was only because I'd bulk bought from the US that I did.

might invest in some glass then. Maybe not though, concentrates don't last long round here. You really think the glass makes a difference?

I do . . . though I also think certain flavours will peak off quicker than others Ripshod, depending on their base ingredients. I'm not really convinced it's worth the bother of freezing flavourings though - the Apocalypse isn't likely to affect them, if it happens that is. It was only because I'd bought a number of 4oz VC bottles that I went to the trouble.

phew, had a panic then as I have plonked my duplicate concentrates in freezer until I need them - more for convenience, they wont be there for longer than 6 months, was only space I had available. Glad to know they will survive a chill
