Since losing my last laptop ive had a samsung tablet. But there are things that a tablet just cant do. Ie. Typing long documemts easily
My last lappy was a toshiba sattelite. It was a great machine, very fast and fairly light weight.
Im tempted to go toshiba again, but thought id ask here first for your recommendations

I thought about it. But ot still wouldnt fulfill my needs. Most of my websites editing stuff is made for use with a computer. It can be quite tricky with a touchscreen tablet.
You just reminded me aswell that I dont want a touchscreen laptop I think its just a useless feature that pushes the price up.

If you can find one that doesn't have Windows 8 on it then that's a bonus.

Do you want something thin and lightweight, or kind of thin, or don't care if it's massive? Whats your budget?
Dell make a nice looking ultrabook, i have no idea of the cost, but they are usually reasonably priced and good quality. I use a macbook air as i travel a lot. Had a macbook pro which was just way too heavy. I've had a sony, various dells and a real old dog of an asus one.
I found windows 8.1 ok - I build and use loads of pc's for work. Granted, almost all get win 7 put on, but I've done a few win 8.1. It's very unlikely that you'll find a laptop with windows 7 on it, unless it's one of the dell business focussed ones (i think you can spec it to have 7) It's important to check that whatever you get will have 8.1 and not 8 - apparently 8.1 is much better..

FYI: "Lenovo was founded in Beijing in 1984 as Legend and was incorporated in Hong Kong in 1988. Lenovo acquired IBM's personal computer business in 2005 and agreed to acquire its Intel-based server business in 2014. Lenovo entered the smartphone market in 2012 and as of 2014 is the largest vendor of smartphones in Mainland China. In January 2014, Lenovo agreed to acquire the mobile phone handset maker Motorola Mobility from Google...."
Great machines.
OP... BUDGET?
Cheers I

Bog standard. I tend to go 3 or 4 up from the bottom for laptops. I went with Lenovo as I found some reliability studies which has them quite near the top. Most of these are on a similar standard, apart from HP (when I looked). It's an i5. I thought I'd put an SSD in it, but never bothered.
