Pepperty it was the only pack size available for 100%, unreinforced rayon. They do smaller packs Stateside (100 ft and 500 ft) but the postage is uncredible, better to get the bigger box in the UK. Plus I'll be able to knit a rayon suit, who knows it may have Magic Qualities, like the one made by Alec Guinness in 'The Man in the White Suit'! (burble burble pop... time for a lie down)

Not something I'd be happy to use. I'll stick to cotton wool.
Rayon is a fiber produced from recycled wood pulp or bamboo cellulose processed by a combination of many chemicals involving carbon disulphide, sulfuric acid, ammonia, acetone and caustic soda to bear regular washing and constant wearing. The carbon disulphide emitted from Rayon fabric can cause nausea, headache, vomiting, chest and muscle pain and insomnia as well as the toxins released from Rayon can also occasion tissue necrosis, anorexia and Parkinson’s disease for people who regularly wear clothing made of it. It is evident that Rayon is a hazardous fabric for people, but its chemicals disposed in the factory effluents can also affect the Eco-system by polluting the water, decreasing the plant’s growth and shortening animals’ life.

chuck Understand the concerns. I'm reading all I can about rayon atm to ensure that vaping with it isn't going to be harmful. So far (THAT long thread on ecigforum) it appears that it is very efficient at channeling juice, so the coil part is less susceptible to burning than cotton, and we've all had toasty cotton to get rid of after a few days vaping. The chemicals used to produce it are less of a concern as for instance bleach is often used to clean cotton wool in production, and when growing it's doused in insecticides (disclaiming organic cotton of course), but the FDA/Eric Pickles/EU rules prohibit the harmful materials making their way into the final product. Though cotton wool is cleared for wiping baby's bums, it's not been cleared for vaping. So to avoid inhaling harmful gases, don't toke an atty with burnt taste (if you didn't know already). Still, with an open mind but safety first, going to read as much as I can bout this stuff. Before sticking it in my face. Edit : ERIC Pickles. That overweight fella in charge of Local Government (e.g. school dinners, probably has to sample them for purity, have to admire his devotion to duty)

It's the 1200 foot box, the biggest available (and the only one I could find with a UK source hence the icon_shoppingm).
Just made a fresh coil for the Kayfun, 32 gauge 1.0 ohm result, and wicked it. First impressions using rayon to wick, it's got mega long threads, doesn't squish when compressed like cotton. You pull it apart to the width required, I went for the '3 to 4 times the outside gauge of your wick' - no tiny tiny threads with this stuff. Then twiddled it at one end to make a point, thread it through the wick, and draw it in - turning the opposite end to the threaded one while gently pulling from the threaded side. It doesn't seem to snag on the wick at all, it rolls through quite easily. I didn't have it bunching up at the ends.
Ok next part! Primed the wick with juice. It didn't repel juice but on the other hand, at the start it sort of just ... stayed where it was put, soaking in but not going off to other ends of the thread. So I got it nice and juicy drop by drop, cut it to size - it really is a joy to work with here, it cuts exceptionally cleanly, no rag ends. Put the chimney on the Kayfun, reassembled, filled with Banana & custard from the screw hole. Popped it onto the Cana Modz, running at 16W and took a few toots.
It burned the wick pretty fast. I could taste the signature burning, and opened the Kayfun up. Definite discolouration on one side of the coil, not burned but darkened. Discarded the wick and tried another one, this time with 5 times the width and making sure the wick flumed out either side of the coil (so it was shaped like a funnel going into each side).
This time mounted it on the Provari, running a nice steady low 3.7 V (still 14 Watts then) and... after 20 minutes of pretty much solid tooting, made a video.
Early days yet, but it's nice when it's working. More to tell when it's had a chance to bed in for a few days, and going to try the thing of changing juice to see how long the old juice persists.
As ever, toot toot!

Ok I think I figured out the reasons it burned first go. First up the wick was too thin; it really needs to fill the inner coil snugly (according to the trailblazers over at Ecigforum) and mine probably wasn't. More to the point though, the Cana Modz while running at 16W nominally was running on a low battery, and that mod reportedly does NOT regulate well if at all below about 60% battery charge - getting reports that it just goes mech mod on you and dumps the battery on the coil, even while reporting it's giving X watts. If that's true, and it would explain burning a wick in no time at all, it's bloody piss poor design by Cloupor. Still, this is what we get for being at the bleeding edge.
Going to continue with the Cana but only with a high battery charge, for every thing else there's Provari and Mechs. I'm inclined to run rayon on non-subohm coils with a well regulated mod for safety.
A few more impressions of the setup so far. Taste is really really nice, the custard in the Banana Custard mix is coming through strongly (this is 60% VG, banana 8% v custard 15% ethyl maltol 1% mix).
Next test will be with my Taifun, which has developed a propensity to leak like an incontinent Cabinet minister. Going to keep its existing coil, and rewick with rayon, and see if it still urinates.

Taifun time! I kept the old coil in, 1.7 ohms, and rewicked using the '5 times width' rule from earlier. Wicking is definitely easier than with cotton, rayon doesn't have the habit of wanting to wander off in random directions as you draw it through, and what's really nice, if the wick is looking like it's pulling on the coil as you draw it through you can just grab an edge of it (from the side of the coil you're feeding from) and pull, and it'll come clean away without the rest of the wick getting slimmer. Got it now on the Cana (fully charged) running at a full 19 Watts, so the mod is pushing 5.7 V, filled with home made RY4 (80% VG) and it's tooting like a champ. Getting lots of the dry taste in the mouth that RY4 produces. AND the Cabinet minister responsible for leaks has resigned Edit : I think the cat is getting high on the plumes I'm blowing out. She licks her lips, runs off to get a drink (there's a tap going in the bathroom for her... how spoiled is that?) and now she's going mental playing with the charger leads dangling off the PC. Crazy nic hit from this stuff, I may have to drop down from 18/12 mg.
