Yep but for the same length of wire it makes no difference whether they are micro coiled or spaced apart. I was under the inpression like DiscoDes that the resistance would change if the coils were touching, that was until I played with the calculator. Good to see it Proved in practice. Making the coil nice and tight and close together also gives a better all-round even heat distribution, doing it differently would make it just a basic coil. Your right but I wasn't commenting on the type of coil and which was better, just that the resistance wasn't effected by making them tight, it was commonly accepted that it would be lower.

. So for weeks ...I've been trying this ...heating and squeezing heating and squeezing then checking the resistance ..only to see it hadn't changed ...and thinking I'm doing something fundamentally wrong then I find this thread only to read .....it doesn't change the resistance ....how foolish do I feel
