best kanthal to use ?

Hi at moment im using 0.25 kanthal and was wondering if i should use a different gauge to get better results - i normally wrap 6 wraps with cotton and get 1.3 to 4 ohm ?

I'd say there was something wrong if 6 wraps gives you a range of 1.3 - 4.0 ohms.
I use 0.2 kanthal, 10 wraps on a 1.5mm drill bit gives me around 2 ohms consistently.
There are some good guides on here, and a ton of vids on youtube... my suggestion is to watch a few vids, get a few different gauges of Kanthal, and practice, practice, practice... it takes a while to get consistent with your coils. But the effort is worth it.

So basically, get 0.3 kanthal for the best results!?

Also if you Microcoil as the coils are touching & the resistance will be lower.

I use .25 kanthal A1 7 wraps round a 1.8mm jewellers screwdriver consistently gives me 1.7 ohms. I did try 0.30 but found it took longer to heat the coil.

NO! it's not wrong it's just that a microcoil give a slightly better vape, but the difference is not HUGE just noticeable, especially in something like a Protank/Aerotank/Evod etc.

Yes it's ok, provided your device is happy to go down to these resistances.

You don't have to micro coil. Personally I have found them a better vape. But it's all down to personal preference, and finding what works for you.
If your coils are separate, keep them evenly spaced, evenly sized, and make sure none are touching.
Just keep at it. You'll find your sweet spot soon enough.

Also, I read your first post as you were getting 1.3 to 4.0 ohms, which is a big difference, which is what made me wonder.
If I read it wrong and you meant 1.3 to 1.4 ohms, then I'd say you were already getting good consistency, and if you enjoy vaping 'em, carry on doing what you're doing!

Is that really true?

Not according to this calculator It varies, but by a tiny amount both less and more resistance depending on the spacing.

Overall i would say 0.3 is the winner but i still use 0.25 as i prefer a coil that heats up quick and mainly cools down quick...this is based on Kanger heads, if i was to use something else like a dripper or something than i would more than likely use 0.3.

I forgot to mention, that chart is all based on microcoils....will update original post to say so.
