So, I had one of my mini protanks sitting upside down (tip removed) overnight while the coil end was drying after a good wash out with bicarb and in the morning it had leaked all over the place. A few pictures to explain where its leaking This is all the bits This is the leaky bit and this is the leaky bit unscrewed It was as if the juice was able to make its way through the top part of the tank (that was upside down) via the threads, when I unscrewed these bits it wasn't that easy but still seemed to be a lack of sealant. Anyone know what kind of sealant should be in here, general pipe sealant ??, PTFE based ??, threadlock ??, superglue Would it have to be a food safe grade sealant ? Thanks in advance for any ideas or thoughts.

On the Mini PT2 there is usually an o-ring on top of the glass tube that seals against the top section (the part you said was leaking), and I can't see the o-ring on the glass in your pic. Your's may be stuck inside the metal part, which is fine. But if it's lost that would explain the leak (could've come off when washing) THat center tube has to be at least finger tight to maintain enough pressure against the o-ring to stop leaking. If it's come loose then the top seal will leak. But.... don't worry about it. As long as the o-ring is in place, it won't leak when it's all back together. A bit of seepage is normal, especially if you've had a bit of flooding... nothing to worry about though

e-juice is a lot thicker than water, the chances are its fine as is and just leaked because it was full of water.

Oh yeh leo is right there is a seal on one end of the pyrex tank, make sure it sits in the top section and not the bottom.

leo and hijack - Thanks for the reply's but that isn't where it was leaking. The o' ring your talking about is still there, just inside the metal bit. The juice was coming through the threads of the chimney into the top bit of the tank through the hole in the middle, where the drip tip would sit, kind of hard to explain.

charliehorse well it may be what I said about water being a lot thinner than e-juice. it may be fine once its filled with juice. If it does leak when filled with juice then plumbers PTFE tape on the threads will stop it.

hijack - alas it was juice that was in it - it was just the coil that was in for a clean

charliehorse A bit of PTFE tape will sort it out then, I use it on threads when doing plumbing and its pretty good for stopping things leaking.

hijack - Its looking like a good idea at this stage and as a bonus i've already got some lying around I've got other sealants and threadlocking compounds kicking around too but not sure if they would be safe to use on this due to the inhaling thing, though once they've set i'm not sure if there would be any problems. I'll stick with the PTFE unless any other suggestions come in - cheers.

Used some PTFE tape, a bit footery putting it on and trimming off the excess once it was screwed together, but left it upside down full of water overnight and no leaks this morning
