I used to do a lot of d.i.y, and strip things back. As well as sanding, I would use nitromors on things to get into the creases as it were.
I usually buy new furniture but I have a chair that I want to keep in the family. It is wood, and old but I do not know if the wood is that colour or if it has been stained that colour. I want to lighten it, would nitromors work? It is dark wood and I want to make it pine coloured? I cant sand it cos it has twists.

If it's varnish then nitomors will remove it, if it stained then it won't.

Only way to find out is to try really, nitromors works by melting the paint or varnish sitting on the surface. I'd give it a go and see what happens but it think sanding is likely the only option to go from dark to pine if it's stained. Is a nice pastel coloured paint no a viable alternative ?

Could you not unscrew the seat pad and try a bit there ... if it doesn't work at least you won't see it

I want to keep it kinda original, just a different colour, that sounds stupid I know. I bought a conservatory seat thing that cost me £289 and I want the chair to kind of match slightly. I am sat in the room now, the flooring is oak, the desk is light oak, the ottoman and baskets are banana something, the blind is light and dark? The conservatory seat is wicker dark and light.
The chair has a wicker/rattan something seat. The wood frame and twisty legs are like a mid-dark oak colour, but a bit battered also.

You can buy wood bleach if the Nitromors doesn't take out the colour...
