I thought it might not be very comfortable with an 18650 at the back, but it's fine. It's certainly bright enough for my needs.

I obviously have a major problem which I need support and help with. My rather expensive 50th birthday present, a watch, is running out of battery. To prove how expensive it is, for about a month before the battery dies completely the second hand moves in 4 second increments to save power and to warn of it's impending demise. This has now been happening for the last week; much as I love wearing a beautiful timepiece like this, I really can't afford to spend the £60 necessary to send it back to the manufacturers for a new battery. After a conversation with my good lady this afternoon I set about searching the internet for a cheap waterproof replacement so that I can continue to be appraised of the correct GMT/BST. Imagine my delight, dear reader, when I discovered a suitable chronometer at the wonderful Chinese emporium we all know and love as Fasttech. But this is where I am seriously concerned, dear friends. Not one but two watches entered my Cart, but unbelievably, I pressed the Checkout button without adding a single further item!! Not a driptip, a Protank head, or that cheap mod clone crying out to be purchased. Is there something wrong with me? How come I actually managed to pay for something from FT without succumbing to the temptations of the other departments? Should I seek counselling? I'm really worried that this might happen again - can you offer me any advice please? No but my tag watch did same few months back shop wanted 165 quid to do battery etc (bugger that) bought a watch back opener the three prong type from ebay for about five pounds checked athe battery type that was about £3 all sorted for under a tenner. I already had some molly oil to redo the seal with but you can get that for a few quid as well. If the watch is fairly new or has had regular services you'll be fine to do it at home.

Update: they have arrived, and both work perfectly - in Engrish too! Instructions are easy to understand, and I got both watches set up to show date time and 24hr function in under 5 minutes. If they last a year between them, I have saved quite some considerable sum, and may then be able to afford to send the watch away for a replacement battery. igual - if the watch hadn't been a birthday present from my wife, I might consider doing it myself, but I would get lynched if I messed it up big-time!

Does the watch have a guarantee chykensa? If not, have you thought about taking it to a local shop? Seiko wanted to charge me £55 for a battery replacement. The little watch repairer booth in Debenhams charged me £18 including pressure sealing so it's still waterproof, with an 18 month guarantee on the battery. Worth a try?
