Hi Spiritdancer to the forum. Good to hear you have stopped smoking, I may have misunderstood, but you started vaping this last weekend and have managed to cut down the nicotine already? That's good going, many find it hard to cut the nic content down. I started on 18mg and now use 12mg Im going to give another month then maybe try 6mg. To be honest, I like vaping, I find it nicer than smoking and as long as nothing emerges 'health wise', im happy to carry on doing it. I started about mid February, and feel so much better now. I used to be out of breath after just walking for a while, but my fitness is definitely improving all the time. There are a lot of options around for vaping, but if you take in a bit at a time you start to cotton on to what others are doing. Its just a case of finding what works for you. Anyway enjoy using the forum and don't hesitate to ask anything you like. Thanks very much for the welcome all. Yes I started on Saturday, high nicotine because I used to smoke roll ups (Old Holborn) and thought I would need the high nic hit. But I also bought some medium strength and decided to move down to high/medium mixed on Sunday .... I was fine on that but felt I wanted to try cutting down further. The seller I first used didn't have any low strength so I had to wait till my online order arrived this morning to start mixing medium with low. It is a bit soon, but if I start getting cravings I'll just go back to all medium. I'm hoping the new flavours that arrived today will help distract me, they're all 8mg so we'll see lol. Glad to hear you are doing so well, it doesn't matter how you do it or how long it takes. I've made a conscious effort to keep my routines as similar as possible, which I'm sure is helping me a lot. I'm convinced the habit of smoking is as much an addiction as the actual substance. I always kept my smokes in the kitchen and went out there to smoke .... so I do exactly the same with vaping. I also knew I would miss the rolling, especially early mornings, so I make sure I have something to do each morning - filling tanks, charging batteries etc, or just fiddling with liquid bottles. Sounds daft but it does help. Like you, I'm enjoying vaping and that has to be half the battle. I still have a long way to go in learning everything but I'm certainly very glad I took the first step. One daft question I have I don't intend getting into self mixing liquids or any of the technical stuff, but I have a tank now that is about half full of tobacco flavour liquid. I just went ahead and added 5 or 6 drops of cappuccino to it. I know you're supposed to either wait till the tank is empty or use a different tank but is there any reason why you can't just add drops of different flavours? Or is it against Vape Etiquette? Right, in the first place there is no such thing on here as a daft question Secondly, whatever floats your boat is fine for juices. Some great combos have been discovered by accident... So carry on.

Welcome spiritdancer. Yes it's truly mind boggling isn't it. I'm also a smoker of 40 years plus and started pretty much like you. I've progressed to a vision spinner and two years on find that's adaquate for me. I still can't quite believe I'm a non smoker...like you after 40 odd years I never thought I could give it up. So well done you Thanks so much and a big well done to you too. The battery I received today is a Vision (V3?) .... still charging it up so I can't give any opinion yet. What really surprised me was how easy it was to stop the ciggies, with the help of the vaping of course, I really thought it was too much of a habit to kick after all those years. I know anything inhaled into our lungs is not ideal but it has to be so much better than what we were doing before. The only problem now is that I need to find one or two good suppliers and stick with them to keep stocked up. At the moment I keep flitting from site to site, always seeing something else that "might be worth a try" haha.

Yep, same here with me. I smoked for 40 years and still cannot believe how easily I kicked the habit. My OH can't believe it either, especially as at the time I switched to e-cigs I was still going through a tragic family bereavement. It's been over a year for me now and I just stopped smoking the minute I got my e-cig through the post and set it up. I didn't even have a last cigarette saying something like oh well, this is the last ciggy for me, I just literally never picked up another cigarette as the e-cig simply replaced the ciggies so well. Sounds like it is exactly the same for you too. Funny how some people can switch just like that, after god knows how many years, yet others struggle and still have to have a few ciggies a day, or maybe just the first ciggie of the day. My friend has to have 1 or 2 cigarettes first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee and then she's on her e-cig for the rest of the day & evening.

Spiritdancer whatever is right for you is the way to go. Mix together whatever floats your boat. I found that the most difficult part to begin with, was finding a juice I liked and actually getting the ecig out of my mouth !!!! It really was like a dummy to me. I couldn't put it down and tried just about every juice there was. I eventually settled on a fruity menthol as my all day juice and some RY4 every now and again. When you get your spinner going and the right juice you'll be in seventh heaven. And.....I suspect you will be getting into mixing your own...it isn't as difficult as you think...and all the people on here will be on hand to guide you because there are some wonderfully helpful people on this forum....however plenty of time for that....for the moment be proud of your achievement and enjoy

There is no reason not to mix your premade liquids. I do it all the time. I like to use 50% Virginia and I mix whatever I fancy into it, add some vanilla custard and cherry or a bit of menthol and aniseed. You can find some nice flavours by chance. Just be aware that some liquids can crack the plastic tanks and you may need tanks that are made of glass for those liquids. Cinnamon is one that will crack plastic not sure on others but someone else may know the others.

Well it's been said already, but I'll say it again. Mix whatever you want in whatever quantities you want, and if it does the job 'nuff said'! Half the fun about vaping is finding that juice that works for you. Some people find it straight away, others need months of experimentation to discover it. There are dozens of good juice suppliers around, mostly online, and if you ask what is someone's favourite juice, be prepared to be bombarded with suggestions, links to sites, and general banter about which is best. The important thing to understand is that our tastes are all different, and will change as your senses return after the stinkies. I have tried hundreds of juices in nearly 2 years, and have now discovered which general areas of flavour my preferences lie - this week anyway! By next month I will have discovered a whole new area to investigate. There is no need to even consider mixing at the moment, you are spoilt for choice as far as vendors are concerned. Check out the vendors board for some starters, and don't forget that many vendors offer a forum discount which saves you a bit of dosh too! Lastly, please don't hesitate to ask any questions you have, we have all the answers and there is always someone around to help you with humour and experience. AndyB

My friend has to have 1 or 2 cigarettes first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee and then she's on her e-cig for the rest of the day & evening. That's a real achievement for you then, especially considering that you quit at such a stressful time. I think I just got so sick of all the congestion the smoking was causing, constantly trying to clear my throat and the doctor blaming everything on smoking. In the end I couldn't even wait the day or two for my online order to arrive, I went straight out on Saturday and bought a battery kit with 3 bottles of liquid and never looked back. Some people, like your friend, can just smoke one or two ciggies and no more but that wouldn't work with me, I would be back to sqaure one in no time. I didn't hide my ciggies up, still haven't thrown them out, but I know I'll never smoke again as long as I have my e-cigs, I prefer them already. I'm sure most of my success is down to the new interest I've got now, all the different flavours, thinking what mixes might go well together, all the suppliers to check out - all of that keeps me distracted enough to not want to go back. The biggest problem fro now on is going to be resisting the temptation to keep placing new orders all the time. At the moment I'm like a kid in a sweet shop.

AndyB Thank you for your encouraging words, you're dead right on all you've said, especially on being spoilt for choice lol. So far I've only experimented with 2 mixes - tobacco and red cola ... and tobacco and cappuccino. I like both mixes and the adding an extra drop here and an extra drop there all helps keep my mind off smoking, so it's all good. I'm going to check out the vendors' board now, hadn't thought of that. Oh dear I feel another order coming on.
