There is only one stupid question, the one you don't ask! Welcome and all the best.

As a beginner I've not progressed as far as Protanks yet (to be honest I had to look them up to find out what they are ) If I understand correctly, the Protank is a step up from the ordinary clearos I'm using, much bigger and therefore more suitable for adding more liquid mixes? I'm happy with my V3 Ego for now but maybe in time I'll want to move up. The Protank 2 is a wee bit bigger yes it holds 2.5 ml of liquid whereas your clearomiser probably holds around 1.6 ml or thereabouts, its also a pyrex and stainless steel set up so heavier and all of it comes apart for cleaning and just changing the colour of the glass tank or the drip tips. They also do a mini Protank which holds 1.6 ml - I have 3 minis plus the bigger one. Myepack do both sorts and the version 3 (which is dual coil) at really good prices - the Protank 2 is here: myepack.co.uk/protank-2.html its also worth getting an airflow controller with the Protanks - the one to match that one is here: myepack.co.uk/airflow-control-valve.html if you want to see the relative sizes side by side these are mine: The one on the left is a Protank 2 with an acrylic drip tip that I use with it on a Vision Spinner 2 the middle one is my original starter clearomiser a Smok Aro on an 1100 mAh ego-T and the one on the right is a Protank 2 mini which I changed the tank to a green one and its also on a Spinner 2. Both Protanks also have airflow controllers fitted. The middle one looks most similar to my Vision, but I love the look of the one on the left, that's beautiful, especially with the glass tank rather than plastic. I've already started mixing 3 or 4 juices together (just in a very basic way by adding a few drops of each one at a time lol) and so the extra tank space would be very useful. If there is no coiling and wicking to be done that would be a huge plus for me also, I'm not comfortable with having to do that at all. I think the Protank and Spinner will be my next step. Thank you for sharing the pic and for the description.

Hi Spiritdancer and welcome. Sounds like you're getting it all pretty sussed already. Reckon you'll be mixing up potions in no time. The sooner you learn to mix your own the more you'll have to spend on shiny new kit It erks me to spend 3 or 4 quid on a shop bought 10 ml bottle these day when i can make my own for a quid or less. Didn't think anything of it when i first started vaping though as it was so much cheaper than packets of baccy. Guess it's all relative though

I've so much still to learn but half the fun of it seems to be in the mixing, I'm sure that's what has kept me distracted from smoking. Like you I was used to paying over £17 for 50gr of tobacco which is ridiculous really. Then again I can't see me saving much if anything - every day I see lovely things posted here and always think "Oooh I would love one of those"

Kit wise i'd recommend the itaste MVP. That will last a good couple of days before needing charging. Have a decent battery as backup and a nice selection of clearos and you'll be sorted.

The airflow replaces the bottom part of the clearomiser and has extra air holes which you can open or close depending upon whether you prefer a cooler more airey vape or a warmer harder draw - I use an airflow with the mini I have my mint liquid in, but for my sasparilla or black jack flavours I'm happy with the standard base. However for the bigger Protank I would definitely recommend the airflow.

Thank you for the recommendation, their multipack samplers are a great idea, I wish more sellers would offer them. Only things that put me off using that site is 1 - they are not in the UK .... and 2 - most of their nic strengths seem to be around 11mg and I'm on lower than that now. Seems to be rather a problem buying liquids from shops too, the places I've been to have had very little, if any nicotine free juice or very low nicotine. They say the medium/high strength is much more popular.

I had the opposite thing put me off ordering from there Spiritdancer At the time i was on 24mg and anything lower really wasn't cutting it for me. Might re-consider now though as i can vape a lot lower and still be satisfied. After vaping over a year now my dependency on nicotine is much lower. I was quite shocked to read how quickly you've cut down your nic level. Especially you're an ex burny smoker (as we used to call it) Smoked that stuff as a 14 year old.. now that's what you call a throat hit!

Yes I've smoked Old Holborn for the last 20 or so years, prior to that I smoked some pretty strong tailor mades, including Woodbines lol. When I started vaping I was mixing high strength with medium (couldn't get any low) .... then when I found some low online I mixed that with medium, but still found it unnecessarily high. It's probably different for everyone but with me I'm sure having all the different flavours takes my mind off the actual nicotine, I don't even think about it now, only about which flavours I can try out with which others. Mind over matter I think. I do still include some of my medium tobacco flavours in sometimes because I bought too many and I'm not going to waste them. I've tested myself though and found that I'm quite happy on low strength. Most of my recent buys have been 6 or 8mg, I just make sure I mix at least one fairly strong flavour. I'm surprised it's so hard to get low strength. Now I'm searching for a good supplier of zero nic and hopefully after that I won't need anything at all. I think my lungs deserve a fresh air only period after all I've put them through over the years.

They don't sell larger bottles just small samples. When you find the flavours you like you will need to source from a different vendor preferably one in the UK, and they should be able to offer the nic strength you require. Places like LT will offer 0-24mg nic whatever you need. These are LT's own brand.

LT is one of the sites I have saved, they seem to have a good selection of lovely flavours available with a choice of strengths. I'm trying to avoid postage costs by using local vape shops at the moment. Although the juices are usually more expensive, by the time you deduct postage it works out about the same. It appears though, that the locals don't have a great choice of either low nic or zero nic, so I'll probably still have to buy a certain amount online.
