Hi guys
Just made a micro coil, and in testing it seemed stable at 1.4 ohms.
However now I've filled up my Kayfun, the ohms are jumping around from 1.3 up to 2.6 (and even higher in tiny bursts)
Whats going on?
What have I done wrong?!!!
cheers in advance!

Make sure the coil is lifted off the deck too

What wire did you use? How many wraps etc. could be that the coil is 2.6 ohms but is touching the deck causing it to partially short out.

Hi guys, thanks for all the help
I used .3 kanthal - and I think it was 10 or 11 wraps - I'll have to drain the Kayfun when I get chance and check all the suggestions you've made - tbh I might just go back to my usual coils - never had an issue til I tried to do a micro coil... they just looked so easy and everyone is doing them - I just wanted to be part of the club!!

Well I did as suggested - emptied my Kayfun, got juice everywhere but got it apart, tightened the screws and got "Low Load". No matter what I did to adjust the coil - low load. So I ripped her out and started again - built it and - low load... grrrrr!!
I had to go out last night, so left it and will have another go this evening...
Decoy - I'm pretty sure the last time I recoiled her (with a normal coil) I used 0.3 kanthal - possibly 4-5 wraps - and it worked a treat - that was the first time I used the 0.3 - up til then I'd been using 0.2 kanthal on her since I bought it - over a year ago.

Check the resistance without a coil, I suspect you problem may be elsewhere.

As suggested, don't give up on micro coils, I now find them easier to build than getting equal wire spacing on 'normal' ones!!!

The standard kayfun screws are crap for anything thicker than 0.25. Come to think of it. They're crap full stop. probably the problem causer.. if the coil isn't secure it won't read properly on an ohms checker. you want some m1.6x3mm caphead screws like these

They use a 1.5mm allen head. Same size as supplied with most rba clones. I bought an allen driver to make things easier.

All 5 now use the capheads and I can use twisted 0.30 ney bother.. Doesn't help that the philips head makes tightening properly an a** ache! loon
