Thought I'd have another go and did 7 wraps of 0.25 on 2mm for 1.0 Ohm. Better but still a bit wonky. Here's a pic to show you the idea.

@scooby did you wrap the first coil, then wrap another strand in the gap? Or did you wrap the 2 strands simultaneously? I've done both ways - 1st more economical with wire, as I know exactly how much to trim off. 2nd - you're able to twist the 2 together to form the leg, then it possibly produces a more even coil as you can get even tension on each strand? To be fair, I've never got that close to one, so couldn't comment. To be fair again, if I did get that close, and it looks like yours, I think I'd be well happy! However, once its in the chimney, I can't see it and as long as it vapes well, I'm well happy!

Trouble is I'm a perfectionist fred good enough isn't for me, especially when I'm making something intricate. I have a x20 loupe to inspect my work Like you say you don't see it when installed, and I expect it makes little difference anyway. I've only doubled the wire over and coiled in tandem, not tried doing it individually.......yet. I have tried pulling each wire end when the coil is complete, but that only tightens 1 or 2 coils not the whole lot. I takes patients and work slow I think It's much easier with really thick wire for low Ohms, but you still need to take you time to get it right.

That's my preferred way, as I only have to coil once, and don't have to worry about getting the other one precisely in the gap! Plus, I know roughly how much wire to double over, so very little wastage these days. You know how hard you find it with 0.25 or 0.3? Think of poor me next time, using 0.2 Hopefully ionian has all the info he needs to give this a go.

parallel coils are good in the kayfun but wastage of wire is almost inevitable but its easier to do with .3 the main trick is not to have any kinks in the wire before you start my way of sorting this prob is to hold a drill dit in my hand the wrong way round so i can press down on the smooth end/side of said bit and then pull the wire throw whilst pressing down (hold the drill bit like a lighter)it can take several passes and as you get used to it you can turn the wire round to get it strait
bend a cut length in 2 and coil as norm
also once fitted to the kayfun and dry burned put whatever you wrapped it round back in it and give it a little tug it neatens it up no end
kayfun on cotton can go down to .6 ohm but you gota wick it just right .8 seems fairly wick frendly
i would get both .25 and.3 cause you will end up using both but .3 is easier to work with imho

Had a go at parralel coils the other night and to be fair it was really nice flavor. It would be easier with bigger heads on the pos and neg screws i think, does anyone know where or if we can get hold of some

mrbee Have a search for M1.6 x 3mm you'll find pozi and cap head in stainless. There are sellers on ebay for small quantities. May be think about a M1.6 washer although you may need 4mm length then. Just thought, you are talking Kayfun?

fred @scooby decoyHad my first go at a parallel coil - 7 wraps of 0.25. It's by no means perfect or pretty, but it's vaping well at 0.9 ohms. I'm not sure if I'll keep it up - I usually use 7 wraps of 0.3 for the same ohmage, but obviously this gives a much bigger heating area. Sorry for the thread hijack!
