Ive got a kayfun due to arrive any time soon . I would like to be organized with everything I need for when it arrives so what size kanthol should I get . At the moment I like 2ohm coils in my kanger tanks running 8.5-10 watts depending on juice. Should I aim for a set up that gives similar ohm coil ? I`m about to place an order for some bits and the same shop sells .25 or .3mm kanthol so it will save on post cost if one of them will do and add to my order . Should I add some ekowool too or just go with cotton wool ? if yes to the ekowool 2 or 3mm ? I know there are tons of variables to consider but I will cross that bridge later. I just want to get going with something that will work immediately Out of all the info Ive looked at a single coil and navy whatsit looks easy enough so thats where I will probably start I think .

IMO - get both 0.25 and 0.3 kanthal. Both will get used, I promise. Around 8 wraps of 0.25 will be 2 ohms, and 0.3 will be useful for lower ohmed coils.
I wouldn't bother with ekowool, I've never had much success with it in anything, and cotton wool gives a superior vape. Get silica for navy nests, either 2 or 3mm will be ok - 2mm is my preference. Again, I really think that cotton wool and microcoils will give you a better, cleaner taste than any silica build.

It's all subjective mate and literally a case of suck it and see. For what it costs get 0.25 and 0.3 and have a play. I tend to use 0.25 as I find 0.3 takes too long to warm up, others swear by 0.3. Generally I use around 1.4 to 1.8 ohms in my kayfuns and always cotton wool and microcoils. I have silica, ekowool, Rico lace and just bought some rayon. I keep going back to cotton although I haven't give rayon much of a chance as yet. The fact is rebuildables by nature are very flexible and there is no best way, you just have to try different things until you find the best for you. 0.25 6-8 wraps on a 2mm bit microcoil with CW is a reasonable place to start

I use .2mm in my kayfun styled devices.
Micro coil 2 strands round a 2mm drill bit 4 times, no overlaps, so looks like a regular micro coil of 8 turns. This has same resistance (I think, technically) as 4 turns of 0.3mm - approx 1.1ohms.
The upside is, there is almost twice as much surface area in touch with wick and I'm sure it heats up a lot quicker than 0.3mm.
Downside- slightly more difficult to coil, and probably doesn't last quite as long, but so far, they are lasting at least 6-8 weeks. Changing cotton every 2-5 tanks, depending on juice (cotton is knocked after 2 tanks of cinnamon red-hots!)
Its horses for courses.
I've got some ribbon wire to try out a tin-man coil at some point.

I'd like to give this a try - do you have a picture? Do you lay two strands side by side and then wrap them?

I'd like to give this a try - do you have a picture? Do you lay two strands side by side and then wrap them? Don't have a PIC, but yep, 2 strands side by side. Imagine if one strand were red, and the other blue, the entire coil would be striped ( hope that makes sense). Just wrap it up like a normal micro, ensuring that neither wire crosses the other (not sure if it would make a difference, but Super-Shiny wouldn't be impressed ) Once its all heated and squashed together, I twist both strands on each leg together - possibly makes the legs stronger, but makes it easier to catch the small screws on the Dec, and stay where it should. All 3 have almost full tanks, but I'll try and get a PIC for you tomorrow, when one's empty.

I've done this with much thicker wire, 0.5mm used in a dripper. When I've tried it with 0.25mm I couldn't get a neat and even coil that I was happy with. It's parallel wire wraps and getting each wire the same tension is tricky. I will practice some more as fred has said the theory is good, like a dual coil in single coil guise. Example with same wire thickness, same dia: A coil with 6 parallel wraps has the same surface area as a coil with 12 single wraps, but the single coil has approx 3 times the resistance. A coil of 6 single wraps would have 1/2 the area and twice the resistance of the parallel coil.
