Ahh, the ability to smell. To add to wibble's list of bread, rain etc... freshly cut grass, On the downside, was in the local shop for milk, a drunk was being served before me and....what a stench. The definition of the great unwashed mass! Never has my nose been so offended that it dragged my body 20ft across the shop until he left.. but his odor remained. Should be classified as chemical warfare!!! But still..that baking bread and the smell of my toddler after a bath more than makes up for the pain this creature from the black latrine caused. so glad i can stop and smell again.

I'm gonna sound weird now (nothing new there!) but one of my favourite smells is a clean wet dog, just after he's had a bath

I gonna sound even more weird wibble, but the first thing I could smell really good is a dog poo, lol.Every morning when take my son to school we pass a road that leads to a park, where everyone takes his dog for a walk.I could smell every "present" left on the road. All I am saying I couldn't smell this while I was still smoking.

You wouldn't have smelled my dogs pooh PinkyPuff as I don't leave his presents ! I'm responsible and pick them up ! I hate walking up the track with JD as so many dog owners leave their sh!t lying around.

Indeed wibble I carried rax's poo ( in poo bag) for a mile yesterday before we found a bin. My most ultimate disgust is with people who use poo bags and leave them, or worse, throw them into the trees / bushes! Anyway, then I took him down the shore for a good swim followed by the local for a pint and he had his crisps, then back home to shower the salt off him. Gail said he stunk of wet dog but I couldn't smell him. I guess it's gonna take a while. Ruffie

I find the smell of public lavatories utterly nauseating now. Looks like I'm going to have to find somewhere else to hang around now

first time sense of smell came back ,was walking to shops then bam, diesel, petrol fumes + fireworks smell, gt home said to missus wanted to start smoking again ,those smells was orrible lol
As for public lav, well main one in our town is built on top of existing one, prob is when sea backs up in the drains you get stink seaweed as well as lav smells, hence if need to use deep breath before entering lol

I'd forgotten about that. It is one smell I can / could smell enough to know it was there after a summer storm and then it all rotting above the tide line in the sun. I expect it won't be pleasant next storm we get. Our public loos are immaculate and have flowers in them and everything. But that's what you get living in a seaside tourist town with the loos wedged between 2 of the posh seafront restaurants. Ruff

What surprised me was a recent trip to Home Bargains (I love Home Bargains!!) a couple of young girls were ahead of me at the checkout, both glammed up to the nines, immaculate hair and make up etc. but all I could smell from the one stood next to me was B.O. - really awful B.O. either that or she was wearing some very strange perfume ???

It is wonderful though, this returning sense of smell and taste, the garden flowers, grass, food, coffee, fresh washing. The list is endless. However, him indoors needs to use less aftershave, it's nice but very powerful.
I'm also loving the fact that I am not gasping for breath if I walk up a slight incline. I even managed to run along the beach last week......not far you understand, but far enough to splash a lot, and wasn't gasping for breath then either......I can now inhale deeply without a wheeze too
It's all just so good, and I never thought I would ever, ever be able to stop smoking.
Maybe we should have a dedicated.......now I vape I can........thread

Ruffie A mile, you were lucky (Monty Python ref, not having a dig), I often carry 5 miles, I clip them to a belt loop (not putting in pocket) and the worst is if I forget and sit down to give the dog a drink of water and sit on the poo bag, then the renewed sense of smell is not so rewarding,

I find them useful in winter though when you have cold hands and have forgotten your gloves

Toothpaste is a strong one for me, after Gail brushed her teeth last night I got a mega waft of mint. Followed by fart of lentil all night!
